This is a hybrid position with a mix of inoffice and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

About the PSI team:

The Public Spaces Incubator is a historic collaboration between public broadcasters and the nonprofit New Public aimed at tackling the problem of toxic conversations online. This collaboration is not about recreating the tools available on existing social networks but about conceiving a new way to contribute to the debate via products and services developed on our own platforms.

How you will make an impact:

  • Assisting with project analysis evaluation and planning.
  • Planning and prioritizing development tasks in conjunction with the project manager.
  • Assisting with implementation and ensuring your teams compliance with established development standards.
  • Acting as a mentor to developers on your team.
  • Providing strong leadership to the technical team.
  • Keeping your team informed of project status updates and changes.
  • Discussing potential human and technical challenges and suggesting solutions to those challenges.
  • Staying current on industry best practices for development and documentation.
  • Proactively seeking ways to improve team workflows.
  • Sharing knowledge in your field of expertise.
  • Promoting best practices and ensuring appropriate knowledge transfer to the team.
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of all projects under your purview from initial analysis to final rollout.
  • Participating in code reviews to help the team evolve and maintain high standards for code quality and robustness.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • University or college degree/diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years related experience.
  • Proficiency with JavaScript.
  • Proficiency or experience with React Native.
  • Proficiency or experience with React.
  • Proficiency with serverside scripting (API/GraphQL client/server).
  • Experience with NodeJS.
  • Experience with TypeScript.
  • Knowledge of Firebase and Firebase functions.
  • Experience with Swift or ObjectiveC an asset.
  • Experience with Java or Kotlin an asset.
  • At least one React Native app published in the Apple Store and/or Google Play an asset.
  • Knowledge of frontend and backend performance optimization techniques an asset.
  • Performance optimization experience.
  • Experience with accessibility standards.
  • Experience with an Agile methodology.
  • Diligence independence and resourcefulness.
  • Analytical and conceptual mind.
  • Excellent stress management and prioritization skills.
  • Critical mind.
  • Flexibility initiative and drive.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Work is performed in a bilingual environment (English and French).

Please note this is a 12month contract position renewable annually. This regular position is not a consulting assignment but a longterm opportunity with competitive CBC/RadioCanada employee benefits.
