POSITION: Special Education Teacher (Transition)

START DATE: August 2025
CERTIFICATION NEEDED:PA State Certification in Special EdK12

SALARY: As per UDEA Contract

HOURS: 7.5 hours/day

SUMMARY:

Primary functions include the classroom instruction of students following district curriculum and procedures.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to the building Principal

Works cooperatively with other administrators supervisors staff parents and students to perform job responsibilities as outlined

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. As outlined in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement

2. Salary (step/level placement) & Benefits are as described in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Follow a continuous program of curriculum development.
2. Plan prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
3. Use relevant technology and materials to support and differentiate instruction.
4. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
5. Prepare classroom for class activities.
6. Observe and evaluate students performance and development.
7. Assign and grade class work homework tests and assignments.
8. Be aware of new materials methodologies philosophies and innovation using those which suit the needs of the individual student.
9. Assist in planning student activities programs and field trips.
10. Attend required meetings and complete required reports.
11. Consult with parents and other involved personnel concerning each students intellectual social emotional and physical development
12. Create and maintain an environment conducive to learning.

QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To successfully perform this position a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement training skill and/or ability necessary. 1. Bachelors degree with valid PA certification

2. Proficiency in the use of technology for individual communication and research

3. Proficiency in presentation of technology to enhance small and large student group information & demonstration sessions.

4. Possess effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with professional contacts

Qualified candidate will be required:

• to use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls
• to talk and hear

• sit and occasionally be required to stand walk stoop kneel and crouch

• have specific vision abilities to include close vision color vision and the ability

• to adjust focus

• have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

• possess effective communication judgmental planning and human relations skills
