Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the authorized administrators shall:
- Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.
- Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and hearing handicapped children.
- Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech voice hearing and language impairments upon request.
- Provide appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students needs and correct existing speech or language handicaps.
- Confer with principals teachers and parents frequently regarding the students progress.
- Provide inservice education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech improvement.
- Keep and maintain thorough pertinent records.
- Assist in screening procedures.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the building principal or the Superintendent of schools.
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
The salary and terms of employment will be commensurate with the Westfield Public Schools Unit A collective bargaining agreement. Salary placement will be based on the information contained in the application as submitted.
If hired qualified applicants may receive a five thousand dollar $5000.00 hiring bonus.
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation.
This position is subject to funding.
