You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThis is a challenging energising and fastpaced role which acts as key support for the Head of Finance Business Partnering Transport Scotland Directors and stakeholders across the organisation. Reporting into the Head of Finance Business Partnering you will provide professional accounting budgeting and wider financial stewardship advice to at least one Transport Scotland Directorate. The Finance Business Partnering team delivers key finance business partnering and management accounting to Transport Scotland Directorates.
The role involves providing high quality advice and finance budgeting and accounting support to a wide audience both within and outwith Transport Scotland. The postholder will be expected to manage a small team on a day to day basis and deputise for the Head of Finance Business Partnering and Head of Finance where required.
A suitable candidate will bring experience knowledge of public sector finance as well as a proven track record of delivering results in financial management and people management skills.
Responsibilities
Providing professional accounting budgeting and wider financial stewardship advice at senior levels improving financial awareness and overviewing the robustness of financial controls within your assigned Directorate(s).
Working with colleagues across the agency to develop awareness of drivers of financial performance to support the achievement of objectives within available resources bringing constructive challenge to ensure robust decisionmaking.
Robustly assessing projections of future income and expenditure and ensuring regular updates to financial plans to support corporate and Scottish Government budgeting value for money decisionmaking risk management and longterm financial planning.
Support the finance teams stakeholders and Ministers by engaging in the budget setting process contributing to the development of applicable documents and advice for Transport Scotland.
Deputise for the Senior finance team members as appropriate in matters relating to finance business partnering and management accounting.
Lead a small team inspiring and motivating them to be fully engaged in their work encouraging learning and development and ensuring wellbeing needs are met.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must be fully CCAB qualified with up to date CPD and relevant post qualified experience in accountancy environment.
