Summary

Summary:
The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records compliance with regulatory requirements and the efficient management of financial operations to support Impacts missiondriven activities. The Assistant Controller brings expertise in accounting and financial management with specialized experience in NetSuite payroll and handling federal state and city grants.


Key Job Duties:

  • Assist the CFO in overseeing all aspects of the organizations financial operations including general ledger accounts payable accounts receivable and payroll.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with CDFIrelated financial reporting and accounting standards.
  • Oversee the preparation submission and monitoring of budgets and financial reports for federal state and city grants.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll in compliance with applicable laws and organizational policies.
  • Prepare monthend and yearend financial statements including reconciliation of accounts and analysis of variances.
  • Collaborate with program managers to develop budgets and track financial performance of grants and projects.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements and government regulations.

Experience/Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial management within the nonprofit sector.
  • Proficiency in US GAAP and nonprofit accounting.
  • Proficient in accounting (e.g. NetSuite online banking) and tax preparation software.
  • Demonstrated experience with federal state and city grant management and compliance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CDFI accounting and compliance requirements is a plus.
  • Experience effectively communicating key data including presentations to program managers senior management the Board or other outside stakeholders funders and influentials.
  • Experience with and Paycom are a plus.

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance required.
