Job Description

The Visa Institute for Global Policy within the Government Engagement organization shapes the future of payments through proactive engagement with national authorities multilateral development banks academic thought leaders and international institutions.  

 

As a member of the International Organization Engagement vertical in Visas Institute for Global Policy the Director will advance Visas international organization strategy and support engagement with the World Bank. The Director will also engage other global institutions such as the Financial Action Task Force as needed.   

 

The Director will be accountable for mapping establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the relevant organizations. In addition the candidate will be responsible for advancing Visas strategy related to Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and the G20 Roadmap on Enhancing CrossBorder Payments. The position will report to the Sr Director and Head of International Organization Engagement. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Lead Visas international policy engagement with the World Bank International Finance Corporation and Financial Action Task Force.  
  • Execute strategic engagement opportunities with regional regulators and policymakers to ensure Visa is well positioned to influence the regulatory environment for digital public and domestic and crossborder payments. 
  • Develop a deep understanding of Visas payments capabilities with an emphasis on Visas crossborder payments solutions and how they could be better leveraged by the public sector in improving digital inclusion and in resolving crossborder payment frictions. 
  • Advance Visas position regarding regulatory and policy proposals on payments policy issues including crossborder payments regulatory challenges. 
  • Promote public policies that ensure a level playing field for private sector innovation in payments.  
  • Lead engagement strategy for global events such as Spring and Annual World Bank and International Monetary Fund meetings. 
  • Assisting the Sr. Director in identifying strategic engagement opportunities with international organizations to ensure Visa is well positioned to influence the regulatory discourse on a broad range of key policy issues. 
  • Anticipate the impact of new innovations on international regulatory priorities and advise Visa business leaders on the risks and opportunities arising from new products and solutions. 

 

What we expect of you day to day 

  • As an experienced leader on international policy global payments innovation and/or money movement you will engage with international organizations to help explain how private sector innovation is resolving payment frictions and increasing financial inclusion.  
  • You will communicate timely and effectively with executives to ensure awareness of main regulatory/policy developments and strategy to protect Visa business and reputation. 
  • You will advise regional Government Engagement colleagues on the evolution of IMF and World Bank financial sector assessment programs and their potential impact on national regulation.  
  • You will work with the Institute for Global Policys policy analysis and research teams to identify the topics and sources required to establish Visa as a trusted thought partner to international organizations.  
  • You should have the ability to work independently and to lead a crossfunctional project team. 

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.


Qualifications :

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 810 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters MBA JD MD) or 6 years of work experience with a PhD
  • Law Economics Policy or Political Science degree post graduate studies preferred
  • Active network of World Bank IFC and policy contacts
  • Knowledge of and experience working with international organizations such as the World Bank IMF FSB etc.
  • Indepth knowledge of the electronic payments/banking industry/fintech
  • Proven ability to operate effectively and efficiently in a challenging fastpaced environment
  • Strong financial services and/or technology interest
  • Strategic advocacy and effective communication skills required
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to build consensus and set priorities in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively
  • A team player able to work across various Visa functions
  • Excellent written and spoken communication abilities in English knowledge of other languages appreciated.
  • Enjoy writing position papers articles thought pieces etc.


Additional Information :

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 510 of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk communicate in person and by telephone frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 160600.00 to 220900.00 USD per year which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on jobrelated factors which may include knowledge skills experience and location. In addition this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical Dental Vision 401 (k) FSA/HSA Life Insurance Paid Time Off and Wellness Program.
