- Fulltime appointment on a fixed term basis for two years.
- Base salary range: Level X $113934 $134824 p.a. (prorata) plus 17 superannuation.
About the area
The ARCfunded Centre for Critical Resources for the Future (CCRF) is located within the School of Earth and Oceans at the University of Western Australia (UWA). The Centre collaborates across academia industry and government to address research challenges related to critical minerals. The Data to Knowledge Program plays a transformative role by generating insights for evidencebased geosciences while providing training for the geoscientists of tomorrow. This crossdisciplinary research associate position will be hosted by the School of Physics Mathematics and Computing (PMC) at UWA. The PMC School has a strong tradition of worldleading research in computer vision mathematical physics data science and quantum measurement.
About the opportunity
- Lead interdisciplinary geoscience research developing innovative data platforms and collaborating with academics researchers and industry.
- Supervise students drive crossdisciplinary initiatives and publish highimpact research.
- Engage with industry and government contributing to governance and promoting inclusion and diversity.
About you
- PhD qualification in Computer Science Data Science Software Engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in deep learning and large language model research joint modality representation learning knowledge graph construction particularly in the context of spatialtemporal data analysis (ideally with geoscience applications).
- Proven ability to design train and implement joint modality deep learning representation learning models by integrating heterogenous datasets for geoscience research.
- Strong research track record evidenced by contributions to research outputs in peerreviewed journals or similar highimpact scholarly publications.
- Experience supervising research students or mentoring earlycareer researchers.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or significantly contribute to collaborative crossdisciplinary projects.
- Capacity to develop and deliver training materials for research teams focusing on data science and machine learning techniques in geoscience.
