THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this nonpermanent position you will assist and advocate for crime victims. This includes helping them effectively share their experiences when needed accompanying survivors as they navigate the criminal justice process and connecting them with local community government or other organizations that provide counseling social service and other support to victims of crime. Your work will also involve responding to telephone inquiries regarding the status of Sexually Violent Predators (SVP) communicating with the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) to update our data on SVPs and researching PSP data to locate and register survivors who have a legal right to our services.
Our team will rely on you to provide traumainformed responses to calls received form crime survivors ensure correct and timely notifications to crime victims regarding their rights in the postsentencing process of offenders and determine or recommend actions necessary to remedy circumstances where a policy or protection order is violated. You will also prepare petitions for the Victim Advocate on behalf of victims maintain clear and constructive communications with victim service agencies throughout the Commonwealth and collaborate with other service providers in daily efforts to support the rights and needs of crime survivors. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Temporary fulltime employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
- Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) parttime up to 3 days per a week after the successful completion of the training period. In order to telework you must have a securely configured highspeed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of professional social service counseling or crisis intervention experience involving crime victim services one of which must include direct services to crime victims and a bachelors degree in sociology counseling psychology or a related area; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of professional social service counseling or crisis intervention experience involving crime victim services one of which must include direct services to crime victims.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be willing and able to work in Dauphin County.
- You must have two 2 or more years of social service counseling or crisis intervention experience.
- You must have one 1 or more years of experience providing direct service to crime victims.
- You must have completed at least eight 8 hours of training in victims related service delivery.
- You must have experience dealing with victims in crisis situations.
- You must have completed at least eight 8 hours of training in crisis intervention.
- You must have experience working in the criminal or juvenile justice system.
- You must have telephone hotline experience.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
