In this nonpermanent position you will assist and advocate for crime victims. This includes helping them effectively share their experiences when needed accompanying survivors as they navigate the criminal justice process and connecting them with local community government or other organizations that provide counseling social service and other support to victims of crime. Your work will also involve responding to telephone inquiries regarding the status of Sexually Violent Predators (SVP) communicating with the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) to update our data on SVPs and researching PSP data to locate and register survivors who have a legal right to our services.
Our team will rely on you to provide traumainformed responses to calls received form crime survivors ensure correct and timely notifications to crime victims regarding their rights in the postsentencing process of offenders and determine or recommend actions necessary to remedy circumstances where a policy or protection order is violated. You will also prepare petitions for the Victim Advocate on behalf of victims maintain clear and constructive communications with victim service agencies throughout the Commonwealth and collaborate with other service providers in daily efforts to support the rights and needs of crime survivors.
