Job Description

Position Overview

Position Summary
The college of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking a qualified candidate to teach as a fulltime tenure track Assistant Professor of English with a specialty in Composition & Rhetoric or related field and to serve as Writing Program Director. Fulltime tenuretrack 9month. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Start date is August 2025. This is a residential appointment and campus presence is required.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Service Scholarship 3/3 teaching load which reflects a reduction of 1 course per semester to direct the FirstYear Writing program.
  • Coordinate the minor in Technical and Professional Communication.
  • Teaching assignments will include upper and lowerdivision as well as graduatelevel courses in writing and rhetoric including Pedagogy of College Writing Visual Rhetoric Grant Writing and similar courses. Courses may be offered inperson hybrid or online as assigned to meet student needs.
  • The candidate is expected to provide training for writing program faculty.
  • Mentor graduate students in the composition program.
  • Maintain an active and productive research agenda.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Composition/Rhetoric or English required.
  • Ideal candidates will have a strong academic background in and experience with writing instruction including online and hybrid formats
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
Work is physically active in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects.
