Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director Infrastructure & Security the Senior Systems Engineer performs a TIER3 role within a team of technicians supporting a wide range of infrastructure and technologies. The position is responsible for planning documenting and executing assignments in a complex environment requiring the configuration testing maintenance monitoring and reporting of front and backend applications operating systems and designated hardware. The Senior Systems Engineer will also perform key functions in implementing and managing technologies that underpin enterprise security policies as well as work in conjunction with TIER2 technicians in resolving escalated tickets for over 200 users across 2 remote sites in Canada and U.S. This is a fulltime hybrid position working withing the Toronto or Vancouver area.

Specific Responsibilities and Daily Tasks:

Work collaboratively with the Director of Infrastructure & Security and other engineers to design document and execute technical solutions that support and improve upon existing hardware infrastructure and critical IT systems across the enterprise.

Support Windows 2016 Server MS RDS Linux RHEL VMware Active Directory Azure environments

Perform advanced infrastructure administration including Nimble storage attached network management next generation firewall management backups and DR enterprise software upgrades and patching and network and application performance monitoring reporting and troubleshooting.

Providing Network Operations Centre (NOC) and Security Operations Centre (SOC) Support.

Provide the final stage of escalation from IT support and must therefore possess the most technical knowledge of the corporate network hardware and system infrastructure.

Update and maintains technical documentation.

Assist the Director of Infrastructure & Security with reporting documenting and executing recommendations for improving performance of hardware and software systems resolving capacity constraints and bottlenecks.

Help develop document communicate and enforce network technology policy.

Plan for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support system growth.

Analyze service incidents and problems identify risks provide recommendations and implement solutions.

Efficiently enter track and maintain work orders in ticketing system.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they relate to network hardware or software applications.

Manage Microsoft/thirdparty support tickets when required.

Plan and implement new IT systems.

Plan and implement new security features in accordance with current cybersecurity frameworks identify security gaps and provide solutions.

Perform annual and semiannual highlevel tasks within data centres.

Aid in project planning and .

Serve as a backup for Tier 2.

Travel to Alberta required at least twice a year or more.

Participate in the oncall rotation and in evening and weekend work.

Qualifications Competencies & Requirements:

University degree in computer science or equivalent education and experience.

10 years of expertlevel knowledge and experience with Windows Servers Windows RDS Linux RHEL Servers HPE Synergy Blades OneView Palo Alto Firewalls VPN HPE Nimble Storage Arrays Aruba AOSCX core switches VMware vSphere/vCentre Zerto Microsoft Azure Entra 365 Defender Cloudflare (WAF API Zerotrust) Cybersecurity Frameworks (CIS/NIST/SOC2 SASE.

Experience with the following would be an asset: Aruba Switches Oracle DB Oracle ODA Nutanix Acropolis Dell or Cisco UCS Tenable Docker/K8s CI/CD DRP BCP IRP Hybridcloud (OCI Azure AWS) SolarWinds SAM DPA Zendesk ZOHO Jira.

Must have reliable highspeed broadband internet.

Strong debugging and analyzing skills takes ownership to ensure project progress.

Concrete understanding of related technological knowledge Application Server and Network Infrastructure.

Expertise in resolving technical and nontechnical obstacles to maintain project progress.

Initiative to learn new technologies/innovations and contribute new ideas to strengthen the solution.

Ability to review server logs to resolve infrastructurerelated issues.

Ability to multitask and work under pressure and thrive in a fastpaced environment while meeting internal schedules and deadlines.
