The Ballad Health CVA Heart Institute is a nationally recognized organization that delivers comprehensive cardiovascular care for our region. We service all the major facilities in Ballad Health System and have multiple regional offices throughout Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
Our organization is currently seeking a Physician Assistant to join our Vascular Surgery Team at Johnson City Medical Center Level 1 Trauma Center. The PA will be responsible for assisting the CVA surgeons in areas of clinical practice under direct/indirect supervision as appropriate for his/her training and experience. Position includes clinic rotations a MondayFriday schedule with rotating call on weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities include:
First assist vascular surgical cases under the direct supervision of a surgeon
Make and close incisions under the direct/indirect supervision of a surgeon drains sutures/staples provide wound care under indirect supervision of a surgeon.
Participate in:
o Cost containment and quality improvement activities and gathering of data.
o Divisional research activities
Act as a liaison between surgeons and patients/families.
Work with surgeons in the office clinic setting for preop and postop patient care.
Participate in call rotation with other surgery staff.
Work directly with surgeons when rounding on patients to include entering verbal and telephone orders.
Assisting with progress notes and discharge orders (signed by surgeon)
Coordinate transfer of patients to and from outlying facilities
Initial evaluation and triage of consults and presentations to surgeons
Application of and management of wound vac
Schedule hospital procedures/surgeries along with preadmission testing.
The successful candidate will:
Hold a Masters degree in a certified PA program.
Have an active Tennessee license and valid DEA.
Have BLS/ACLS training.
