JOB GOAL:
To help kindergarten students learn foundational subject matter and develop skills that will contribute to their overall development as mature capable and responsible learners. This will be achieved through establishing maintaining and clearly communicating behavior and learning expectations for all students. The goal is to consistently strive for improvement assisting students in meeting their academic targets and providing frequent feedback to learners and stakeholders to ensure every child experiences success at high levels.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is a Nine and onefourth 9.25 month contract 190 days) plus a benefits package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on experience and the districts salary placement guidelines. FLSA: EXEMPT.
TEACHER SALARY SCHEDULE
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree minimum (some graduate work preferred).
- Must hold an Arkansas Teachers License for Early Childhood Education (ECE) P4.
- ESOL endorsement preferred.
- Competency in the total teaching act.
- Proficiency in the Science of Reading.
- Ability to apply current educational theory and practice to meet the needs of diverse students.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development with a focus on differentiated instruction and sensitivity to cultural differences.
- Commitment to using handson educational materials to support curriculum objectives.
- A 510 minute video demonstrating classroom teaching experience is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are intended to describe the general nature and level of work expected from individuals in this position and are not an exhaustive list:
- Embrace and implement best practices for kindergarten education with high expectations for student success.
- Promote a studentcentered focus that supports students social emotional physical and academic growth.
- Support Watson Elementarys vision and mission by working collaboratively with staff and administration to create a positive safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records as required by law district policy and administrative regulations.
- Assist in the implementation of school policies regarding student conduct wellness and academic achievement.
- Plan instruction that fosters the social physical and intellectual growth of kindergarten students while assessing their progress and modifying instruction to meet their individual needs.
- Create and communicate clear learning objectives for all lessons integrating skills into classroom activities and learning centers.
- Prepare for instruction and ensure lessons are wellorganized; plan daily activities for paraprofessionals or substitutes as needed.
- Use innovative researchbased instructional strategies and assessments that are aligned with Watson Elementarys goals.
- Serve as a model for best classroom practices welcoming opportunities for observation and sharing resources with other educators.
- Create a nurturing and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that fosters student engagement and promotes positive behavior.
- Monitor student activities to promote safety and social skills development taking necessary precautions to protect students and materials.
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians to foster cooperation promote understanding and involve them in the educational process.
- Promote a strong community spirit at Watson Elementary by being responsive to the needs of students staff and families.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in districtsponsored professional development to enhance professional skills.
- Plan field trips and other extracurricular activities that enrich students learning experiences.
Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Regularly required to sit stand walk use foot and hand controls write and communicate orally.
- Occasionally required to lift and move up to twenty 20 pounds.
- Ability to perceive sounds near and far vision depth perception and work with educational materials.
- Must be able to work the duration of the daily contracted time period with minimal unexcused absences.
