POSITION GOAL: Responsible for constructing repairing and maintaining structures fixtures and hardware within school buildings and facilities. This role ensures that all carpentry work supports a safe functional and welcoming environment for students staff and visitors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Build install and repair structures such as walls doors window frames stairways partitions and furniture (e.g. desks shelves or cabinets) using wood plywood or other materials.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on existing wooden structures including fixing damaged floors ceilings or trim and replacing hardware like hinges or locks.
Interpret blueprints sketches or work orders to determine project requirements and ensure accurate .
Adhere to safety regulations and building codes ensuring all work meets district standards.
Use and maintain hand tools (e.g. saws hammers drills) and power tools; estimate and order materials as needed Assist with renovations classroom modifications or outdoor structures like benches or playground components.
Work with other maintenance staff such as electricians or plumbers and coordinate with school administrators to minimize disruption to school activities.
Communicate with local distributors and make inquiries and/or purchases as directed by supervisorComplete work orderinstructions as assignedrecord all pertinent information relevant to each work orderto include materials needed material cost time to complete and reasonsfor delays and report any deviation from them to supervisor.
Maintain all assigned tools vehicles and equipment in a clean and responsible manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience: 35 years of experience in carpentry with some roles requiring specific experience in commercial or educational settings.
Proficiency in carpentry techniques ability to read technical drawings and familiarity with a variety of tools and materials.
Must possess some knowledge of trades (e.g. Plumbing Masonry Electrical)
Must be able to read and interpret operation and maintenance manuals
Must possess comprehensive knowledge of building systems and codes Submission of preemployment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111of the Pennsylvania School Code)
Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
Submission of Federal Criminal History Record in accordance with Act 114 of 2006

Specific Qualifications: Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy. Record keeping and report preparation techniques. Ability to read comprehend and interpret blueprints/building schematics. Basic understanding of all commercial building mechanical systems. Experience with work order management systemLICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid Drivers license.
