Your role:
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Councils Building Maintenance Team as a Carpenterto undertake various carpentry works to the Authorities Housing Stock.
We are a large provider of social rented housing in the District with c.4500 units and an annual Repairs and Maintenance budget of 6.5 million. In response to recent Government policy we have started a programme of Housing Development which will increase the Councils stock holding to approx. 5100 units by 2023 and will optimise the stock portfolio for current and future use.
What you will need:
You must be qualified to City and Guilds in carpentry (or equivalent) or have a minimum of 5 years relevant site experience in carpentry and maintenance be competent in all carpentry areas with the addition to enable the delivery of projects to a good acceptable standard. Have a good understanding in the use of digital handheld devices such as smart phones and tablets with a basic IT knowledge in areas such as opening and sending emails.
Being in possession of a current full UK driving licence is essential to this role.
Hours of work are 37 per week (Monday to Friday). As part of your contractual duties you will be required to take part in our out of hours stand by rota arrangements for which you will receive additional remuneration.
You may be required to complete a practical and/or theory test as part of the selection process.
