Special Education Assistant Job DescriptionPosition Title: Special Education AssistantReports To: Special Education Dean & Lead Intervention SpecialistWork Year: 12Month EmployeeFLSA Status: ExemptPosition Summary:The Special Education Assistant provides administrative compliance and logistical support to the Special Education Team to ensure highquality services for students with disabilities. This role assists the Special Education Dean intervention specialists school psychologists and related service providers in planning scheduling filing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Evaluative Team Reports (ETRs) Manifestation Determination Reviews (MDRs) and compliance audits. The assistant ensures that the schools special education programming runs efficiently and escalates issues to supervisors when Job Responsibilities:1. IEPs ETRs MDRs Develop and maintain an annual calendar for all special education meetings. Confirm participants for each meeting which includes: district representative school psychologist intervention specialist general education teacher family related service providers and student. Schedule meetings in consultation with school psychologist intervention specialist and special education DeanEnsure that student files (both digital and print) are complete and updated including signature pages IEPs ETRs MDRs OP09s and PR01s. Annually withdrawn or graduated student files are properly placed into administrative and logistical support to the intervention specialists related service providers general education teachers and school psychologists with guidance for any changes from IEP or MDR meetings.2. Collaboration & TeamworkParticipate in team meetings to discuss student progress team challenges and intervention open communication with team members regarding planning scheduling filing and documentation needs related to data reviews file audits new student file review or parent communications. Promote a growth mindset and solutionsoriented approach within the special education team.3. Compliance & Documentation SupportEnsure confidentiality and compliance with federal and state special education laws (IDEA Section school leadership in preparation for annual file in annual data review required by sponsor or the school registrar in obtaining and reviewing special education records for incoming students including contacting prior schools and ensuring complete school leadership in addressing any findings from special education profile audits which may involve reviewing data revising protocols and implementing necessary support for students using communication devices texttospeech programs and other accessibility & Skills:Required:High school diploma or working with students in an educational or childcare communication and collaboration to maintain confidentiality and flexibility and a commitment to supporting diverse with working with technology including Google products.
