You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailWe have an exciting opportunity in the Childrens Centre for a Family support practitioner to join us on a permanent basis.
As a Family Support Practitioner you will encourage parents of children under five to be involved in their learning growth and wellbeing with an emphasis on the communitys most vulnerable families. You will engage with all parents and carers both face to face and digitally including soontobe and young parents while gaining a solid awareness of the local communitys demographics and the networks services facilities and support systems that are available to families in the area.
You will be working with a friendly team of family support workers supporting families in the Stevenage and North Hertfordshire area.
The Role:
Promote the engagement of parents of under 5s in their childrens learning development and wellbeing with particular focus on the more vulnerable families in the community.
Contribute to targeted information support and advice to families identified by the centre and partner agencies such as Health and Social Care. This work will include onetoone work home visiting and group work as appropriate to meet the needs of the families.
Participate in the Early Help Assessment (EHA) process including attendance at multiagency professionals meetings supporting the engagement of families in greatest need in order to improve outcomes for children under 5.
To provide direct support to a case load of families through a structured programme of interventions such as Parents as First Teachers (PAFT) Triple P and the Nurture programme.
Work towards and achieve the agreed Key Performance Indicators and performance objectives and ensure a high level of service is provided at all times
Requirements:
You will be required to travel across Stevenage and North Herts so holding a driving licence and having business insurance is an essential part of the role.
Level 3 or equivalent in health social care or early years or relevant experience or qualification
Level 4 Working with Parents with Complex Needs (Desirable or willingness to achieve)

Working Pattern: Monday Friday Hours between 8am 6pm. including some weekends

The Family Support Service is part of the Hertfordshire Family Centre Service. We offer support advice and guidance for families from pregnancy through to when a child reaches the end of Primary School 11 years old). Our purpose is to support families to receive seamless integrated services support and information on key areas relating to family life. This is provided through universal services where there are emerging needs along with when more specialist or 1;1 support would be beneficial. Services can be delivered through 1:1 group sessions and activities accessed within centres community venues or support workers will visit families within their homes to ensure individual familys needs are met.
The geographical area we cover includes Broxbourne East Herts and Welwyn and Hatfield Districts (the East Quadrant of Hertfordshire). With our purpose being to support children and families to have the best start in life develop well and thrive.
These include:
Provision of over 700 units of accommodation for homeless people.
Move on accommodation for individuals moving onto independent living.
Housing and practical/emotional support for young asylum seekers.
Community HUBs hosting a range of activities and meeting space hire.
Therapeutic and nontherapeutic support for male and female victims of domestic abuse and their children.
Independent sexual violence services across Bedfordshire Luton and Hertfordshire.
Domestic abuse perpetrator reform programmes across Bedfordshire.
Youth services offering emotional wellbeing support and youth club opportunities for 1119 year olds alongside our National Airplay programme funded by the RAF Benevolent Fund.
