JOB TITLE: Payroll and Benefit Specialist
REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resource Operations

GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associates degree (A.A. or equivalent from a twoyear college or technical college.
3 years or more of related work experience.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in payroll calculations and benefits administration.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with payroll software and systems.
Excel Expertise: Ability to organize analyze and report data effectively.
Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of tax laws and employment regulations.
Communication Skills: Ability to explain benefits and payroll details clearly to employees.
Problem Solving: Providing support to employees regarding payroll and benefit issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain knowledge of diversityrelated issues legislation and best practices.
Accurately calculate wages and deductions. Ensure timely processing of payroll transactions including new hires terminations and changes to employee information.
Ensure adherence to federal state and local regulations related to payroll and benefits.
Monitor changes in laws and regulations.
Maintain and update employee records to ensure accuracy of payroll and benefits data.
Prepare payroll reports statements and summaries for management and employees.
Work with HR and finance departments to reconcile payroll and benefits data and resolve discrepancies.
Assists with the Colleges annual financial report annual audit monthly financial reports and other related reports required by the College constituencies the Board of Trustees and other external agencies.
Aid grant directors in the preparation of grant applications grant requirements and oversight of financial reporting related to assigned grants.
Perform other duties that may be assigned by the appropriate authority.
Assist the Human Resources Director.
