The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) Division of Alaska Military Youth Academy (AMYA) is recruiting for an
AMYA Recruiting Placement & Mentor Coordinator!

This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 16.

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please check our Definition FAQto determine if you qualify.

What you will be doing:
AMYA is Alaskas premier leadership academy. Working at AMYA provides the opportunity to assist Alaskas youth in becoming their best selves. As the new AMYA Coordinator some of your job duties may include recruiting future candidates/cadets and community partners for cadets and graduates in the program. Other tasks include facilitating job skills classes managing cases for candidates/cadets participating in the ongoing public awareness campaign and working with community partners to develop longterm opportunities for graduates. The work of an AMYA Coordinator is an integral part of a program for Alaskas youth that provides farreaching opportunities for success.

The working environment you can expect:
AMYA is proudly located on Joint Base Elmendorf/Fort Richardson (JBER) surrounded by the natural beauty of the Arctic Valley where you can enjoy a threemile paved walking/jogging trail and have access to both an onsite caf and a nocost fitness center at the Army National Guard Armory. You will have the opportunity to collaborate and engage with uniformed military members and fellow state employees to accomplish our mission while maintaining a healthy worklife balance. AMYA believes in providing opportunities for training and development in multiple disciplines. You will also have the chance to participate in community outreach events and occasional activities with the youth may include outdoor settings.

You will be working a nontraditional 37.5hour work week Monday through Friday with occasional prescheduled weekend events.

*NOTE * SPECIAL NOTICE JBER (BASE) ACCESS * NOTE*

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access which is required with this positions work location on base. The background check will include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License proof of vehicle insurance and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.

State employees are guests on Joint Base ElmendorfRichardson; clearance and access are not within the States control.

Special Note:In addition in some cases employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC). As part of the examination process a background check investigation including a criminal records check will be conducted. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude appointment. The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelors degree or the equivalent from an accredited college;
AND
Possession of a valid Alaska drivers license.

Substitution:
Experience in counseling interviewing case management or work specifically in the behavioral or social services fields may substitute for the required education 3 semester or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience). This experience includes work such as AMYA Team Leader Senior Team Leader or Youth Counselor with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
