Program Overview:
The Philadelphia National HIV Behavioral Surveillance System conducts behavioral surveillance among persons at high risk for HIV infection. The research study this year will be among people who injects ; known as the PWID cycle.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Division of HIV Health (formerly known as AACO) is recruiting temporary parttime Study Interviewers/HIV Testing Counselors for the Philadelphia National HIV Behavioral Surveillance System. Interviewers/HIV Testing Counselors will administer the survey and conduct bloodbased HIV testing. All study activities will take place in the field. Employment is expected from MayNovember 2025 but may end sooner depending on the pace of study recruitment. Interviewers/HIV Testing Counselors are also expected to attend a weeklong training prior to data collection and must be available to work evenings and weekends. Interviewers/HIV Testing Counselors will report to the NHBS Project Coordinator/Field Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Screen potential participants for eligibility and obtain informed consent.
Conduct indepth standardized surveys with study participants.
Collect specimens for rapid bloodbased HIV testing via finger stick.
Provide HIV counseling.
Maintain data integrity (i.e. all data collected accurately represents the information provided by a participant).
Accurately document participant information for the eligibility screener consent form questionnaire and Participant Tracking Form.
Prepare and maintain interview and testing materials and supplies.
Assist with ongoing formative research as necessary.
Participate in required trainings.
Assist with other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS:
Experience in engaging effectively with people who are at increased risk of HIV preferably in Philadelphia.
Ability to adhere to detailed survey research protocols.
Ability to comply with strict protocols for confidentiality.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong oral communication skills.
Ability to learn and use computerized interview programs.
Proficiency in Spanish is an advantage but not required.
HIV testing and counseling experience preferred.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA
SALARY: $23 AN HOUR
