The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs the following:
Routine and specialized laboratory tests and other procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Utilizes requisite equipment instruments and computer systems.
Evaluates and reports patient results using considerable independent judgment within the scope of established testing methods.
Performs quality control procedures and contributes to the maintenance of the laboratory equipment and supplies.
Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and instrumentation.
May assume responsibility for one or more laboratory projects or functions such as performance improvement safety quality control regulatory administrative staff development and computer systems.
Trains new employees and/or students in the theoretical and operational aspects of procedures and serves as a resource for less experienced staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 2 Years of clinical laboratory experience in a moderate and/or high complexity testing environment. Blood Bank and Meditech Lab experience preferred.
Education Required:
Bachelors degree in clinical laboratory science or medical technology required with required licensure/certification and with equivalent experience
Associates degree in medical laboratory technology with required licensure/certification and with equivalent experience
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
ASCP or National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel Certification Required
