Job Description

Job Goal:The Enrollment Director is responsible for managing the enrollment process for Somerville Public Schools overseeing all aspects of student recruitment registration enrollment and transfers. This role ensures that the districts enrollment practices are efficient transparent and equitable while also developing strategies to support district planning and to improve access for all families. The Director oversees a team of Enrollment Specialists. Also the Director collaborates with school administrators district leadership and the community to maintain a seamless and welcoming enrollment experience for all prospective students and their families. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative with excellent communication skills able to navigate confidently between detailed daytoday tasks and envisioning and developing longterm strategic plans. The Enrollment Director reports jointly to the Superintendent and the Director of the Somerville Family Learning Collaborative (SFLC).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in education social services administration and management or related field Masters Degree preferred. May substitute 5 years of fulltime or equivalent parttime professional administrative or managerial experience working in a public school enrollment office in place of academic credentials.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in program development and management of educational and/or social services
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to equity and removing barriers to educational success for diverse students and families
  • Proven experience in successful community outreach in a multilingual multicultural urban environment
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills; a strong understanding of diplomacy and comfortable with public presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to make decisions and communicate them clearly
  • Experience successfully leading a team of diverse staff members
  • Proven supervisory experience including management of staff training and development
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to set priorities and complete tasks meeting deadlines
  • High level of technological skills including database management data analysis and data reporting
  • Bilingual and Bicultural (Spanish or Portuguese) highly preferred

Responsibilities:

Student Assignment & Enrollment:

  • Oversee and support the school enrollment process for families both online and inperson
  • Partner with the Enrollment Systems and Data Quality Assurance Coordinator to review and maintain PowerSchool the districts online registration system
  • Collaborate with building Principals Clerks and Family Liaisons to accurately project seat availability ensuring smooth transitions for new students entering the district
  • Analyze enrollment trends and data to develop forecasting models and adjust strategies as necessary
  • Collaborate with the School Health Department to ensure that all new students meet DPH school entry health requirements

Family Engagement:

  • Foster a welcoming inclusive and multilingual environment for all parents guardians students and community members accessing Enrollment Office services
  • Ensure easy and consistent access and referral to local resources and support services for families.
  • Conduct community outreach and provide informational resources to families through networking and media platforms
  • Planning and facilitating events such as kindergarten and PK registration information sessions for families.
  • Work closely with schoolbased liaisons and Principals to plan open house tours

Collaboration with District Leadership:
The Enrollment Director is a member of the Superintendents Cabinet and attends all district administrative meetings. The role also works closely with:

  • The Superintendent of Schools to support daytoday written and oral communication presentations and longrange planning
  • The Director of Basic Needs and Housing Support Services to ensure that students experiencing homelessness or in foster care receive access to education McKinney Vento protections following a due process and have access to necessary community services.
  • The MLE Director and team to coordinate the needs of incoming potential Multilingual Learners for language assessment and placement.
  • The Special Education Director to ensure that new Special Education students are appropriately placed and receive necessary services.
  • The Director of Student Services to handle indistrict transfer requests and the Supervisors of Attendance to support enrollment.
  • The Director of Early Childhood to support PK programming and registration processes ensuring they meet community needs
  • The Enrollment Systems and Data Quality Assurance Coordinator and IT staff to ensure the functionality and maintenance of the Student Information System overseeing data collection and updates.

Staff Supervision & Development:

  • Supervise and evaluate Enrollment Office staff creating work plans and maintaining a positive teamoriented atmosphere.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings focusing on program planning service improvement and professional development.
  • Lead program evaluations to maintain high standards of service delivery and quality assurance for all enrollment and support services.

Outreach and Representation

  • Develop a strong working relationship with city and community partners to ensure equitable outreach to families
  • Assist in organizing a virtual Regional Enrollment Directors meeting quarterly with peers from other school districts
  • Attend community meetings and events as a representative of the Somerville Family Learning Collaborative and the Somerville Public Schools (Occasional evenings and/or weekend hours required)

Full Year Schedule (July June)

Salary Range: $100000 $130000 will be commensurate with experience amd education
