LMS Administrator and Instructional Technologist Position Overview Hanover College a liberal arts college committed to excellence in teaching and learning invites applications for the position of LMS Administrator and Instructional Technologist. This fulltime position serves as both the primary administrator of the colleges Learning Management System (Canvas) and the campuss lead support for faculty using the LMS and related technology. The person in this role supports faculty in using digital tools for teaching and learning manages the technical operation of the LMS helps integrate other instructional technologies and ensures accessibility through Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. Reporting to the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies and collaborating closely with IT the Registrar and academic departments this position is essential to advancing the colleges mission of fostering highquality innovative and inclusive learning experiences. This position is oncampus with some remote flexibility as approved. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required. Key Responsibilities Faculty Support and Training - Assist faculty in designing and enhancing courses using educational technologies including Canvas AI tools and other instructional software.
- Develop and deliver workshops individual consultations and online resources to build faculty confidence and competence in using educational technologies.
- Advise on instructional design accessibility and pedagogical strategies related to technologyenhanced learning.
- Provide ongoing support for faculty and staff by troubleshooting technical issues related to Canvas and integrated tools.
LMS Administration and System Support - Serve as the system administrator for Canvas: manage user accounts course creation term settings and system updates.
- Maintain the quality and functionality of course offerings within Canvas ensuring alignment with best practices in instructional design and pedagogy.
- Apply course quality frameworks such as the Quality Matters Rubric to support the development of engaging online and hybrid courses.
- Collaborate with IT and vendors to resolve systemlevel LMS issues and implement thirdparty tool integrations.
Collaboration and Communication - Serve as a liaison between faculty administration IT and other stakeholders to support instructional technology needs.
- Work with Academic Affairs Library Services and Accessibility Services to promote the effective and equitable use of instructional technology.
- Stay current on instructional technology trends and bring forward new tools or practices that support student learning.
Accessibility and Compliance - Promote and implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to ensure course materials and instructional tools support diverse learning needs.
- Ensure that all instructional technologies comply with accessibility standards such as WCAG and Section 508 compliance and with FERPA privacy requirements.
Required Qualifications - Bachelors degree in instructional technology instructional design educational technology education or a related field.
- At least 23 years of relevant experience in instructional technology online/hybrid course design or LMS administration.
- Experience with Canvas LMS or a comparable learning management system (experience with Canvas preferred).
- Familiarity with AI tools OER and other emerging instructional technologies.
- Customer service experience.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and UDL principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills particularly in working with faculty with varying levels of technological proficiency.
- Strong organizational and problemsolving skills; ability t9o manage multiple tasks independently.
Preferred Qualifications - Masters degree in instructional technology instructional design educational technology education or a related field.
- Proficiency in Canvas LMS.
- Experience in LMS administration including troubleshooting systemlevel issues and managing thirdparty tool integrations.
- Experience applying course evaluation frameworks such as the Quality Matters Rubric.
- Knowledge of technologysupported student learning assessment strategies.
- Prior teaching experience especially in a higher education setting.
