Lead Structural Analysis Engineer (Structural Analysis)

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Lead Structural Analyst (Level 4 for the Design Center South in Houston Texas which is a multifunction Engineering Organization with a mission statement to provide engineering solutions via a highly skilled flexible workforce and cutting edge technologies for the advancement of the Boeing Enterprise. The Design Center provides engineering support to Enterprise wide projects/programs and is a flexible team that strategically adapts to emerging opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform classical hand calc analysis

  • Lead a team efficiently with safety and quality standards at the highest level.

  • Ability to mentor and advise early career engineers

  • Strength analysis will include interpretation of vehicle loads and environments stress calculations and development of margins of safety with known allowables.

  • Observance of program standards and requirements to insure structural integrity and documentation of stress reports.

  • Plans and organizes structural analysis work at the program level to assure total compliance with structural integrity and stability requirements.

  • Develops integrates and documents complex or unique structural requirements to establish the system design.

  • Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the products environment.

  • Support and confirmation of fracture assessments for service life requirements.

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer

  • 9 years of workrelated experience with a Bachelors degree OR 7 years of workrelated experience with a Masters degree OR 4 years of workrelated experience with a PhD

  • Experience with conventional metal structure stress analysis AND/OR composite structure stress analysis

  • Able to independently construct execute review and manage structural finite element models

  • 5 or more years of experience in structural analysis

  • Strong written verbal communications and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Aerospace Structural hardware and Finite Element Method (FEM).

  • Excellent strength reporting writing skills.

  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) including NASTRAN.

  • Some experience with launch vehicle structures.

  • Prior experience with aircraft primary structures

  • Demonstrate engineering knowledge as a midlevel or experienced stress analyst engineer ideally working in a Structural and/or Aerospace industry

  • Prior technical lead experience where they had to review stress analysis of peer
