JOB GOAL:
The position of Float Nurse was established to provide nursing service to schools where a nurse is needed due to absence of the assigned nurse and to provide support for nurses across the district. This position is vital to maintain compliance with: Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN) regulations of the Nurse Practice Act The ASBN Guidelines for School Nurse Practice and other Arkansas Laws mandated through Arkansas Department of Education and Arkansas Department of Health.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nine and onefourth month 9.25 190 days contract FLSA: Exempt NOTE: Precise placement on the salary scale will be determined based upon experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to the qualifications of the School Nurse the Float Nurse must be:
1. Certified as an instructor of CPR and First Aid for Professional Rescuer andCommunity or
achieve this within 3 monthsof employment.
2. Must be proficient with LRSD data base ISeries (AS400 ADH ImmunizationRegistry
email and word processing.
3. Must have successfully organized and conducted health screenings in LRSD
schoolscompliance with district proceduresand mandated annual reporting.
Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and down stairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty 20 or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and/or objects and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period and to be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year. Additional technical skills knowledge and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
