RECRUITMENT AND OUTREACH SPECIALIST
Job Title: Recruitment and Outreach Specialist

Summary:
The Recruitment and Outreach Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of recruitment strategies to attract highly qualified candidates for teaching administrative and support positions within Charlottesville City Schools. This role also focuses on fostering relationships with diverse communities institutions and organizations to ensure the district attracts a wide range of talent. The specialist will coordinate outreach programs manage recruitment events and promote the school district as an employer of choice.
Essential Functions:
- Recruitment Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive recruitment plan to attract diverse highquality candidates for various positions within the district including teaching administration and support roles.
- Outreach and Community Engagement: Build relationships with local universities colleges and community organizations to create pathways for qualified candidates particularly from underrepresented communities.
- Event Coordination: Plan coordinate and attend job fairs recruitment events and other community outreach activities to promote Charlottesville City Schools as a top employer.
- Applicant Screening and Coordination: Support the recruitment process by reviewing resumes conducting initial screenings scheduling interviews and assisting with the hiring process.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Work to ensure that recruitment efforts are inclusive and aligned with the districts diversity goals. Implement strategies to attract a diverse workforce across all job categories.
- Marketing and Communications: Develop and implement marketing materials and strategies to highlight the benefits of working for Charlottesville City Schools including but not limited to job postings social media and the district website.
- Data Collection and Reporting: Track recruitment metrics prepare reports on recruitment activities and assess the effectiveness of recruitment strategies.
- Collaboration with HR Team: Work closely with the Human Resources team to align recruitment strategies with district needs goals and staffing priorities.
Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
- Recruitment Expertise: Indepth understanding of recruitment strategies and best practices for K12 education.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Community Outreach: Knowledge of effective community engagement strategies particularly in underrepresented communities.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficient in using recruitment software applicant tracking systems social media platforms and other relevant tools.
- Cultural Competence: Ability to navigate diverse cultural environments and create inclusive recruitment strategies.
- Problem Solving: Ability to think critically and solve problems creatively while handling complex recruitment challenges.
Education and/or Experience:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Human Resources Education Public Relations or a related field.
- Experience: At least two years of experience in recruitment human resources or a similar role preferably in the K12 education sector.
- Experience with Outreach: Previous experience working with diverse communities educational institutions or community organizations is strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in recruitment and outreach particularly in the education sector.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of diversity equity and inclusion principles and how they relate to recruitment and staffing in K12 education.
- Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS) social media platforms and recruitment marketing tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.
- Availability to attend evening and weekend events as needed including recruitment fairs and networking events.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Human Resources Education Administration or a related field.
- Experience with diversity recruiting and developing initiatives to attract a diverse workforce.
- Knowledge of Charlottesville City Schools and the local educational landscape.
- Experience working with university and college career centers to develop recruitment pipelines.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages) are a plus.
Physical Conditions and Nature of Work:
- Physical Demands: This position may require occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs) sitting or standing for extended periods and extensive use of a computer.
- Work Environment: The work is performed in an office environment with occasional travel to external recruitment events and outreach activities. Evening and weekend work may be required for recruitment events.
- Work Hours: Fulltime with a standard workweek of 40 hours but may vary based on the needs of recruitment events and activities.
- Nature of Work: The position involves regular interaction with candidates staff and community partners. A high level of professionalism discretion and confidentiality is required when handling sensitive information.
