Job Description

Job Title:Family Justice Center Intake Specialist

External Hiring Range:$22.51$26.29

The Family Justice Center is hiring for two Intake Specialists. These positions provide trauma informed integrated intake services for survivors accessing services at the Family Justice Center. Intake Specialists explain available services from the multiple partner agencies review confidentiality policies coordinate initial service provision escort clients through the Center and into secure areas and answer questions.

Buncombe County Governments Family Justice Center(FJC) is a safe place where victims of domestic violence sexual and elder abuse can come for help. At the Buncombe County Family Justice Center survivors can access many different services in one location and begin their journey towards hope healing and safety. Read more about it here: positions are regular employee positions and receive all Buncombe County benefits including LGERS pension health insurance and an 8 contribution to their 401(k) after a 6month waiting period.

This job posting will end at 11:59PM on Tuesday May 6th and we anticipate their first day of work to be June 2nd 2025.

Purpose of the position:

The purpose of this position is to greet and intake individuals seeking services at the Family Justice Center assess their eligibility identify their needs and connect individuals to services.

Additional Training and Experience: English/Spanish bilingual speakers preferred.

Minimum Education Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire): Bachelors degree in human services social work sociology criminal justice or related field or; a High School diploma or GED and three 3 years of related human services social work sociology criminal justice or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: Certified Substance Abuse Counselor Peer Support Specialist or qualified mental health and/or substance abuse professional preferred.

All new employees are paid according to their years of relevant education and experience above minimum requirements for the position and employees have the opportunity to obtain pay increases via cost of living increases and promotions.
