Job Description

Position Title: Driver 1 NonCDL

Classification: NonExempt

Reports To: Transportation Supervisor

Location: Denver 45th Avenue

Compensation: $22.00 per hour

The Food Bank of the Rockies Driver 1 NonCDL will be involved with many driving assignments such as Partner Agency orders Donor pickups Food Drive pickups Grocery Rescue routes TEFAP/Everyday Eats routes and occasionally Mobile Pantry routes. Driver is responsible for pickup and delivery of food product supplies and materials to various sites; as well as loading and unloading product from trucks. Driving vans food trucks and 26 Box Trucks less than 26000lbs GVWR. This role regularly interacts with volunteers partner agencies donors and the general public.

The mission of Food Bank of the Rockies is to ignite the power of community to nourish people facing hunger. We provide food and necessities to people in need through signature programs and by teaming up with hundreds of Hunger Relief Partners to serve communities across Colorado and Wyoming. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Pick up donated food product from food drives and donors and deliver them to agencies
  • Unload incoming product as well as load the truck with outbound food product according to delivery specifications and within Food Bank of the Rockies policies
  • Maintain an organized clean and sanitized cab and cargo area and upkeep food handling equipment.
  • Responsible for performing daily vehicle inspections and other vehicle schedules according to DOT regulations
  • Perform light vehicle maintenance tasks (fluid levels tire maintenance and sanitation)
  • Maintain food industry standards and certification for proper product handling storage and distribution in accordance with Food Bank of the Rockies and Feeding America standards
  • Assist in communicating with and maintaining congenial relationships with donors agencies and volunteers
  • Maintain receipts invoices and other required paperwork for each site
  • Cover routes for other drivers when needed
  • On occasion assists with warehouse duties; recordkeeping waste inventory counts sanitation equipment building and grounds maintenance as assigned

Work Environment:

  • External and warehouse environments frequently
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Uses heavy equipment daily including forklift stand up/sit down lift truck step up pallet jack and automatic pallet jack
  • Occasionally use office equipment such as computer mouse keyboard and printer
  • Frequent travel within the Food Bank of the Rockies service area
  • Frequently operating and navigating a vehicle within rural communities in all weather conditions

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid drivers license and excellent driving record
  • Minimum 18 years of age required
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience working in a warehouse environment strongly preferred
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Prior experience working with lowincome communities preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

Expected Hours of Work:

This role is considered fulltime working approximately 40 hours per week and is eligible for overtime for any hours worked over 40 in a schedule is from Monday to Friday may occasionally work evenings and Saturdays. Local travel only no overnight trips are is primarily local during the business day.

Compensation:

$22.00 per hour
