Job Description

Job Title: Optical Engineer (Onsite)
Location: Lexington MA
Job Type: W2 Contract


Background:

The Group applies all aspects of the optical engineering discipline to the development of prototype spaceborne airborne and terrestrial optical systems. By utilizing statetheart technologies Optical Engineering specializes in producing innovative complex optical systems that pioneer operation and performance in a variety of integrated systems. Group expertise and capabilities span the entire life cycle of optical system development from optical system conceptual development through the detailed design analysis assembly alignment and testing stages.

Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will work closely with optical and mechanical engineers to determine the methodologies and techniques required to assemble align and test precision optical systems. The candidate will ultimately be responsible for executing these techniques and procedures.

The candidate will support sta members in developing a variety of optical systems including telescopes lens assemblies laser optics focal plane assemblies and ber optics for space and airborne applications. This position involves assembling and aligning complex optical systems using a variety of optical instruments performing optical testing and specifying and purchasing optical components. The candidate will also help organize and maintain the Group s optical facilities and instrumentation. The position may require special security clearances and travel to meetings and eld sites.

Required Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in optical assembly and alignment
Experience assembling aligning and testing refractive and re ective optical components and systems
Experience with optical alignment instruments such as interferometers autocollimators alignment telescopes theodolites pro lometers and wavefront sensors.
Broad understanding of optical fabrication techniques and shall be capable of evaluating vendors for custom manufacturing requirements
Experience performing incoming inspection on a variety of procured items and therefore needs a working knowledge of optical fabrication speci cations.
Preferred experience:
Opticalrelated software and firmware development skills and experience
Experience with interferometric testing precision lens assembly high power lasers and ber optics
Experience with space systems and laser communication / lasercom system testing. Three years of testing experience would be desired.


Experience: 7 years of relevant work experience.

Work Authorization: US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
