Job Description

As an Account Director for Portland Design your daytoday will include being an active client account contact or set of accounts ensuring that they remain profitable and have the potential to grow and expand. You will take responsibility for the delivery of quality service that meets the clients needs and addresses their business problems while also championing Portland Design work and services. This will be done so through the effective management of the team and their ability to work with others inside and outside of Portland Design including subconsultants and trusted partners.

For us the ideal candidate will have previous experience with signage and wayfinding and brand environments will demonstrate a strong understanding of design user experience and the unique challenges associated with creating effective navigation systems.

As Account Director you will report to the senior management team within Portland Design this will include Principles Associate Principles and Senior Associates.

Working with...

  • Internal team: Portland management/leadership team; Portland team including planners/strategists; creative teams and directors; creative services and production staff; new business team; human resources; finance/accounts.
  • External: client marketing team including marketing director; client procurement personnel; Other agencies in their clients roster e.g. media public relations; Regulatory bodies.

Responsible for...

  • Supporting the Portland leadership team assist with leading client accounts within Portland with shared responsibility for the client relationship.
  • Working with the team to interrogate client briefs by challenging and asking questions.
  • Supporting the Associate Principle and Senior Associate in the delivery of excellent service and outputs.
  • Ensuring the profitability and growth of client accounts.
  • Managing the work and performance of client accounts.
  • Reporting key financial and team data to the Portland and Perkins&Will senior leadership Finance and HR departments.
  • Coordinate management of commercial aspects of multiple design projects to ensure efficient within scope and budget.

Person Specification: someone who is

  • A confident and articulate communicator.
  • Proactive and responsible in attitude.
  • Personable and has approachable demeanor when forging strong working relationships.
  • Detail orientated and confident when managing a varied workload and both internal and external stakeholder expectations.
