- Support and lead a team of early childhood professionals currently based at Strathmore Childrens Centre
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for a passionate and organised early years leader. We are looking for someone who has strong communication skills a passion for childrens learning and building relationships with families and community.
Reporting to the Centre Coordinator this position will provide high quality education and care for children attending Moonee Valley City Councils early years services. As a leader you will be adaptable and eager to provide the best quality services to our youngest community members including being flexible and working at alternative early learning centres run by Moonee Valley City Council as required.
Please note that this position will involve a combination of both inratio and outofratio duties and supports.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Act as the Educational Leader and support the development and implementation of playbased programs that meet individual and group developmental strengths interests in a safe stimulating and nurturing environment.
- Work within guidelines of National Quality Standards Victorian and National Early Years Learning Frameworks with evidence of consultation with children families and other educators.
- Support educators with the development of authentic relevant and ongoing individual records of children which reflect the holistic approach to childrens learning and development
- Support educators with the program illustration of childrens learning through visual and written documentation that is linked to individual records.
- Ensure all procedures required by the Education and Care National Law Act 2010 & the Education and Care National Services Regulations 2011 Council Policies and Procedures and Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines are adhered to at all times.
- Ensure supervision is active adequate and efficient at all times in order to maintain the childrens care and safety.
Skills & Experience
To be suitable for this position you will possess the following:
- Diploma of Childrens Services or equivalent as recognised by the Department of Education and Training and in accordance with the Education and Care National Law Act 2010 & the Education and Care National Services Regulations 2011;
- Extensive experience working within an Early Childhood service coupled with staff supervision and leadership experience;
- Sound knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 and National Law Act 2010 The National Quality Standards Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and The Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics
- Demonstrated understanding of Victorias Child Safe Standards and how to apply them to daily practice; and
- Hold a current and valid: Working with Childrens Check First Aid Level 2 CPR Certificate Anaphylaxis Management and Emergency Asthma Management certificates
