JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Recreation Park and Tourism Management Department is looking for Leaders for its AURORA Programs. These Leaders have an array of responsibilities including but not limited to:
teaching and instruction of students
group and time management
risk assessment and decisionmaking
and trip management of trip logistics.
Leaders must be able to clearly instruct students on skills of backpacking and backcountry living. These include technical skills such as cooking and setting up shelters as well as backcountry ethics that ensure a limited impact on the natural world. Leaders must be able to manage this teaching role with the responsibilities of managing a group in the backcountry. This includes realtime risk assessment time management provision of firstaid care (as needed) and more. Leaders also mentor and support students as they experience their transition to college life and explore their own leadership opportunities.
Qualifications include group management experience Wilderness First Aid and CPR/AED certifications drivers license and ability to drive a vehicle.
This position requires you to operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid drivers license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988 Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security such as those concerning alcohol and drug use crime prevention the reporting of crimes sexual and other matters.
