Main Purpose of Job
MMD is looking for a skilled and reliable plumber to join our team. As a Plumber with the Maryland Military Department you will be responsible for installing repairing and maintaining plumbing systems for all Maryland National Guard facilities. You will work on various projects from fixing leaks and unclogging drains to installing water heaters and repairing steam lines. This position will maintain repair and install the plumbing and heating components of fortytwo 42 Maryland National Guard Facilities including 342 buildings 1 operational airfield and 4 military training sites in accordance with State Local and Federal rules laws and regulations.
POSITION DUTIES
Including but not limited to:
Repair replace or install new plumbing accessories:
Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues.
Utilize the Emaintenance system to maintain record of work orders parts etc.
Ensure all work complies with local state and federal plumbing codes and regulations.
Repair or replace washers in valves broken pipes opening traps steam valves and gas valves.
Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Eighth grade.
Experience: Four yearsof experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including three yearsof experienceassigning reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a noncommissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair on a yearforyear basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least one year of experience as a plumber technician.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Experience repairing replacing or installing new plumbing accessories such as water closets flush valves urinals sinks etc.
Strong knowledge of plumbing systems materials and tools.
At least one 1 year of experience supervising.
Experience utilizing an EMaintenance system.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
This position will require the ability to pass a State & Federal background check to access military facilities within the state of Maryland. Being able to access these facilities is a condition of employment for this position.
LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
