For more information please visit SUMMARY: Work with families special education staff and community agencies to assist in the transition of early childhood students with special needs from Birth to Three agencies into the publicschool program. Coordinate the Child Find screening process for preschool aged children and their families.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: BIRTH TO 3 FUNCTIONS:
  • Coordinate with Birth 3 agencies and families to ensure a smooth transition to the Issaquah School District at the age of 3 years old.
  • Collect all relevant documents from the birth3 agency for review.
  • Conduct transition meetings with the birth 3 agency and families. Send transition documents and procedural safeguards to families.
  • Access and review ESIT list weekly of upcoming transitions and report out transition meeting results to the birth 3 team.
  • Serve as a liaison between Birth to Three agencies district teams and administration.
  • Provide updates of upcoming transitions and Child Find results to the ECE Coordinator ECE staff and the director of special education when requested.
  • Participates in assessment and initial IEP case management for birth 3 students.
CHILD FIND:
  • Coordinates and facilitates Child Find process including but not limited to responding to inquiries intake interviews collecting forms and questionnaires scheduling and reporting to the Child Find Team. Follow up the processing of results.
OTHER ACTIVITIES:
  • Facilitate collaborative problem solving among families and building staff.
  • Attend community preschool meetings participate in the Community Preschool Fair. Provide outreach to community preschools on Child Find process.
  • Attend the Early Childhood Special Education Coordinators meetings through PSESD and reporting back to the team topics discussed.
QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION:
  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement in Early Childhood Education.
  • Masters degree in Special Education preferred
  • Knowledge of child development for children ages birth to age 5.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Documentation of successful experience working with a wide range of students.
  • Experience in early childhood curriculum and program development implementation.
  • Two to three years of experience working with parents of special needs students.
CONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING: That which is required to be effective in the position and as required to maintain certification and endorsements. Safety Cares certification or certification to be a trainer if not held at hire must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
