Organization Overview:
The Katharine & George Alexander Community Law Center (Law Center) is a civil clinical program of Santa Clara University School of Law. The Law Center has the dual mission of educating law students to be lifelong social justice advocates and providing legal services for the lowincome community. The Law Center educates law students in accordance with the highest professional and ethical standards by serving individuals and communities in need with competence conscience and compassion through pro bono legal representation and education. Law students work under the supervision of experienced attorneys to provide free legal services in the areas of consumer protection workers rights immigration and their intersection with human trafficking. Our delivery model includes 1 community education and outreach 2 advice clinics and 3 fullscope and limitedscope representation cases including court and administrative hearings. Faculty and staff also serve as leaders in collaborative efforts to increase access to the legal system for lowincome individuals and communities and participate in media appearances presentations and training events.
A. Position Overview:
The Law Center seeks a Program Assistant (PA) to work within our Immigration Practice. The Immigration Practice screens community members for eligibility for immigration relief provides limited representation on a variety of legal immigration cases provides training on immigration law and issues and participates with immigration and antihuman trafficking networks. The Law Centers representation focuses primarily on humanitarian forms of immigration relief (T U SIJS and VAWA selfpetitions). The Practice prioritizes providing survivorcentered and traumainformed representation in partnership with survivor services organizations.
B. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Assistant will work under the supervision of the Law Center attorneys to support the Immigration Practice in providing 1 legal representation 2 brief advice clinics 3 community education and outreach and 4 other duties as assigned to manage timesensitive immigration matters.
1. Direct Representation and Client Services
Assist with data and program reporting requirements including participating in partner agency grantee and County meetings as appropriate.
2. Brief Advice Clinics
Assist with the biweekly brief advice immigration clinics including guidance and administrative support for law students as needed.
Under the guidance of (supervisor) record all relevant case information complete intake forms and safeguard information following case management protocols.
Maintain complete and accurate client data for tracking and reporting.
Address clients needs holistically through referrals.

C. Qualifications:

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Strong interest in learning about U.S. immigration law regulations policies and procedures and in working in collaboration with KGACLC staff to address legal issues clients may face including as victims of genderbased violence and lowincome immigrants.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Exercise patience and understanding communicate effectively and work comfortably with a wide range of groups including clients students faculty and staff community members volunteers and other KGACLC stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with welldeveloped attention to detail and followthrough.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Respectful of all people regardless of socioeconomic background race culture religion sexual orientation disability gender or gender identity.
Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint) and willingness to learn other software.
Ability to use case management software systems Clio preferred
Appreciation for and understanding of the principles of Jesuit education and commitment to KGACLCs mission and goals.
Requires ability to travel independently to various locations within Santa Clara County (mileage is reimbursed).
Flexible work hours ability to work some evenings and weekends.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; associates degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
Spanish proficiency preferred but other languages including ASL welcome
12 years of experience in a legal nonprofit or office environment preferred.
