Your opportunity

Dillons Geoscience Practice is looking for an Intermediate Environmental Site Assessment/Excess Soils Professionalto join our multidisciplinary team. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

At Dillon we operate as one team. This position is available at any of the following Dillon Ontario offices: Downtown Toronto North York Oakville Hamilton Ottawa Kingston Guelph Kitchener London Chatham Windsor.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Data Management

  • Serve as the power user and subject matter expert for data related software used for geoscience projects including ESDAT and TabLogs. Activities would include database administration configuration reporting and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and generate reports visualizations and summaries of environmental data for internal and external stakeholders leveraging ESDATs reporting functionalities.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to optimize data management systems reporting and visualizations with a focus on reporting efficiencies and automation.
  • Troubleshoot datarelated issues and provide expert technical support and guidance to team members on ESDAT TabLogs and other data management tools.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff in best practices for environmental data management including data entry QA/QC procedures and the effective use of ESDAT TabLogs and other software.

Technical Project Delivery

  • Provide technical support for projects related to the assessment and management of environmental contaminants in soil groundwater and other media phased environmental site assessments (ESAs) and the Record of Site Condition . 153/04 RSC) process and remediation in Ontario
  • Leading and/or contributing to technical work relating to excess soils management in Ontario . 406/19. This may include preparation of Assessments of Past Use Sampling and Analysis Plans Soil Characterization Reports Excess Soil Destination Assessment Reports preparation or review of contractor submittals or strategy development.
  • Lead/oversee/support the environmental site assessment and excess soils management teams on fast paced transit and transportation infrastructure land development and environmental due diligence projects including preparation and writing technical reports assessment and interpretation of technical data technical reviews of deliverables and development of scopes of work.
  • Comply with corporate client and sitespecific health and safety protocols and programs and applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and manage: health and safety programs for field projects coordinate field programs (related to collection of soil groundwater surface water sediments indoor air soil vapour etc) prepare project contracts and agreements complete subcontractor selection and oversight and organize/manage field teams
  • Work with senior specialists lead the management and interpretation of data including the presentation of data in data tables figures and reports.
  • Potentially act as main point of contact/client liaison to communicate technical and project management information to client teams
  • Manage multiple simultaneous environmental projects involving teams of environmental staff and specialists.

Business Development

  • Respond to Requests for Proposal related to contaminated sites and excess soils work to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Coordinate manage and build business relationships with: clients regulators service providers (e.g. laboratories subcontractor) and thirdparty stakeholders
  • Business travel and field work may be required from time to time.

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • Five or more years of experience in environmental consulting or related experience including project coordination and management.
  • A degree in environmental engineering geoscience or another relevant environmental discipline.
  • Professional designation or eligibility to achieve professional designation (e.g. . within six months in Ontario is an asset but not a requirement.
  • In depth knowledge of the regulations governing contaminated sites and environmental work in Ontario (e.g. . 153/04 R.R.O. Reg. 903 . 406/19 R.R.O. Reg. 347 etc..
  • Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal oral and written communication and organizational skills.

Experience

  • Experience with data management for large and complex projects and an advanced level of experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • Technical proficiency in site characterization field procedures reporting and health and safety. Additional proficiency in one or more of excess soils management geology hydrogeology chemistry remediation cost estimation contracting/construction administration and/or observation hazardous materials risk assessment and data management are considered an asset.

  • Proven experience managing and/or coordinating multiple contaminated sites/ESA related projects of various overall project value (e.g. $5000 $100000 considered an asset
  • Has or is fully able to obtain Federal Security Status (Reliability or greater) and satisfactorily passes a police check
  • Management/coordination of projects in remote and urban locations
  • Strong working knowledge of other Microsoft Office family of products
  • Valid Drivers License.
