Transportation Coordinator
Position Summary
Alberta Classical Academy requires the services of an experienced full time 1.0 FTE) Transportation Coordinator at the central office. This probationary position will commence on a mutually agreed hire date or as soon as possible.
Reporting to the SecretaryTreasurer the Transportation Coordinator administers and manages the operation of the Academys bus routes in Calgary and Edmonton. The Transportation Coordinator ensures that students are transported to and from school in a 1 safe 2 timely and 3 costeffective manner.
Salary for this position is negotiable with a fulltime salary range of $60000 $80000 CAD.

Opening its first campus in September 2022 with 294 students at the Bridgeland School in Calgary Alberta Classical Academy is currently serving 1280 students on three campuses two in Calgary (K 9 and one in Edmonton (K8. Growth plans will see ACA accommodate 1600 students inand growth to over 2000 students in grades K to 12 for theschool year.

Position Functions and Responsibilities
The transportation coordinators responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Bus Routes
- Plan schedule and implement bus routes using transportation logistics software to transport students to/from each campus in the safest and fastest manner possible;
- Communicate and post bus routes prior to the start of the new school year on the school website;
- Monitor and modify routes to meet operational needs accommodate changes to student demographics and improve route effectiveness or to address safety issues.
- Bus Contractor Coordination
- In conjunction with the bus contractor provide driver orientation and training to support the bus service as an integral part of ACAs operations;
- Meet with drivers periodically to review routes concerns stop locations and student behaviour (formal and/or informal);
- Coordinate annual bus evacuation days and bus driver campus orientation in August;
- Collect Route Risk Assessments annually.
- Stakeholder Relations and Communication/ Liaison
- In collaboration with the ST develop implement and maintain the Transportation Parent Handbook that outlines the transportation rules and procedures to be followed by all bus service users;
- Review sections of the handbook with drivers and the ACA community as required;
- Hold quarterly transportation review meetings with campus teams to gather feedback;
- Serve as a liaison between the driver and the principal educator in cases of student behaviour and conduct on the bus;
- Prepare and submit accident/incident reports for all situations involving school buses and/or a student driver parent or citizen;
- Liaise with the Central Office campus administration parents and members of the general public to gather feedback towards improving service delivery and stakeholder satisfaction;
- Respond promptly and objectively to all complaints and inquiries relating to student transportation in a manner that will enhance public relations and confidence in ACA;
- Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with the bus contractor(s)
municipal and provincial government other school authorities and regulatory agencies/municipalities.
- Promote public awareness of the safety issues for student transportation;
- In collaboration with the ST coordinate communication and distribution of transportation information between the campus bus contractor(s) parents and students including: annual route creation school closures and bus cancellations/delays.
- Miscellaneous
- Utilize and maintain all software systems including routing software and fee payment/registration systems to ensure accurate and current information is recorded;
- Coordinate and assist regarding the following:
- Bus contractor payments
- Annual Transportation / PPT Grant
- Transportation webpage
- Transportation fees charged to individual families
- Transportation fee schedule
- Preparation of the PPT payment
- Potential bonuses for driver retention
- Cost analysis and budget preparation
- Bus contract procurement & preparation
- Board policies and administrative procedures relating to transportation
- Grade reconfigurations boundary changes new/closing/relocating campuses;
- Other related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess the following educational and professional qualifications: Education and Experience - Qualified background supplemented by a postsecondary degree or diploma;
- Minimum 35 years of experience in a related field (or any equivalent combination of training and experience);
- An understanding of the education system in Alberta and working in a school environment is required;
- An understanding of school bus transportation in Alberta is required;
- Knowledge of traffic routes and planning is an asset.
