Job Description
Job Summary
To conceive and introduce new material handling and precision automated assembly lines for medical device manufacturing were looking to add a Senior Automation Project Engineer located in Buffalo Grove IL.
What a typical day looks like:
- Understands customer requirements and leads development of effective manufacturing processes and automation solutions.
- Manages medium and larger automation projects in a medical device environment.
- Develops and presents project business and financial justifications.
- Responsible for leading the specification engineering and implementation of new material handling and Assembly automation equipment in a medical device manufacturing environment.
- Responsible for leading the conception specification or design and implementation of modifications and improvements of existing material handling and assembly automation equipment in a medical device environment.
- Lead the collaboration of key stakeholders to develop requirements and specifications for new equipment or modification/improvements to existing equipment.
- Manage and coordinate equipment vendors starting with design through SAT.
- Manage validation for medical device assembly systems including validation .
- Manage the development of technical manuals drawings models training documentation preventative maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and automated processes.
- Troubleshooting support during machine commissioning and ramp up as well as occasional support of existing operations in areas where Subject Matter Expert is needed.
- Lead root cause analysis & drive for permanent corrective actions.
- Work with vendors plant maintenance and reliability engineering to ensure all new and updated automation equipment has appropriate spare parts and a robust Preventive Maintenance plan.
The experience were looking to add to our team
- Requires a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or mechatronics.
- Requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of machine safety requirements and regulations.
- Automation project management experience.
- Medical device manufacturing experience including validation change control and documentation skills.
- Proficient in AutoCAD SolidWorks or similar software program to create schematics or drawings.
- Proficient in MS Project or other planning software.
- Lean Six Sigma/DRM Green Belt
- Previous experience with several of the following technologies:
pneumatics conveyors variety of sensors robots AMR vision inspection systems HMI PLC and SCADA system. - Integration experience with custom automation or turnkey solutions
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external functional teams verbally in writing and via presentations.
- Ability to learn and apply new technologies.
