PartTime Academic Instructor (HKIN 150: Introduction to Sport in the Humanities)
The Department of Human Kinetics invites applications for a parttime Academic Instructor to teach two sections of HKIN 150: Introduction to Sport in the Humanities (Fall term 2025 3 credits and Winter term 2026 3 credits). Total 6 credits. These sections can be delivered online. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
The calendar description is as follows:
HKIN 150 serves as an introduction to sport in the humanities. Students will learn about the philosophical historical and sociocultural dimensions of sport. Issues and themes to be explored include the historical conceptualization of sport the significance of sport knowledge in sport excellence in sport the beauty of sport and sport culture.
We seek candidates with a background in sport and humanities. Previous teaching experience in this field is an asset.
Qualified applicants should hold a PhD or Masters degree in Kinesiology or a closely related field. Preference will be given to individuals who have strong teaching and communication skills.
About the Department
Human Kinetics students pursue a fouryear integrated program that focuses on human body movementfrom a variety of perspectives (athletic therapy biomechanics disability exercise physiology gender growth health history motor control philosophy physical education sociology psychology). Students are wellpreparedafter graduation to enter the workforce apply to professional programs (e.g. physiotherapy or occupational therapy) or medical school or pursue graduate studies.
