About the role and team

Recently our Platform Horizontal underwent a major transformation from solely managing the cloud to becoming the largest horizontal function within the company. Today we are proudly supporting various business objectives including Reliability Developer Experience Security and Quality. The team takes a holistic approach creating systems and tools that developers can use to deliver applications seamlessly and reliably without getting bogged down in infrastructure complexity.

What Youll Do
Your work as a Platform Engineer will shape how Catawiki teams deliver value to customers fostering speed reliability and security in everything they build.
Build a SelfService Developer Platform: Design and maintain selfservice platforms that abstract complexity empowering teams with the tools they need to seamlessly deploy monitor and optimize their applications.
Orchestrate CloudNative Infrastructure: Manage our Kubernetes clusters and other cloud resources ensuring performance scalability and cost efficiency with FinOps.
Boost Developer Productivity: Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines GitOps workflows and reusable templates to accelerate development and deployment cycles.
Drive Reliability and Scalability: Implement best practices for fault tolerance disaster recovery and scaling ensuring that applications run smoothly and efficiently under all conditions.
Monitor and Improve Platform Operations: Use and enhance observability stack to ensure platform health and resolve incidents proactively.
Collaborate and Innovate: Collaborate with product teams to understand their needs and build solutions that empower them while evangelising cloudnative best practices within Catawiki.
Who You Are
You prioritize developer happiness smooth workflows and selfservice platforms. You believe that empowering developers with great tools and environments leads to better products. You enjoy sharing knowledge and collaborating with others. Next to this you are:
Platform Builder: You design solutions that enhance developer productivity and reduce friction applying best practices like DDD 12Factor App principles and modern API design. Skilled in building internal platforms developer tooling and paved paths on cloud platforms (e.g. GCP AWS).
Automation Advocate: Skilled in automating workflows CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform Ansible).
Observability Believer: You ensure developers have actionable insights into their applications through seamless integration of observability tooling (e.g. OpenTelemetry Grafana Datadog) into the platform.
Ownership is your middle name: You have a strong sense of ownership for platform performance proactively addressing issues and striving for longterm scalability and resilience.
Collaborative Thinker: A team player who works effectively with developers and crossfunctional teams to align goals and deliver impactful yet simple solutions.
Adaptable Learner: Passionate about staying current with DevEx best practices emerging tools and industry trends and eager to experiment iterate and improve.

Our Offices and Way of Working
Our vibrant offices in Amsterdam Paris and Lisbon are designed to inspire and connect. Most Catawikians are within commuting distance of one of our offices and enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work model. This means we typically ask you to be in the office 2 out of 5 days roughly 40 of your working time to collaborate and connect with your colleagues. Of course if the job description specifies that the role is 100 remotesuch as for certain expert or sales positionsthen that arrangement will apply.
