Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW

A Ghanabased agribusiness with growing operations across farms mills and distribution networks is seeking a focused detailoriented and reliable Operations Manager to join its team in Accra. The company is involved in the largescale production processing and distribution of leguminous crops and cereals primarily rice serving both domestic and regional Operations Manager will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth daytoday functioning of the company s operations. This includes overseeing compliance with regulatory authorities coordinating procurement and logistics managing government and stakeholder relationships and supporting administrative and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will be organized proactive and capable of working across multiple departments with a strong sense of accountability


Key Responsibilities

A. Compliance Management

Ensure the company adheres to all statutory and regulatory requirements including:

  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA): Oversee environmental compliance at farms and mills located in Adidome and Akuse.

  • Ghana Fire Service: Ensure uptodate fire safety certifications for all premises.

  • Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT): Manage staff and worker contributions.

  • Food and Authority (FDA): Handle food product certification advertisement approvals and regulatory submissions.

  • Ghana Standards Authority (GSA): Coordinate the calibration and maintenance of weighbridges.

  • Ghana Immigration Service (GIS): Apply for and renew work permits for expatriates.

  • National Identification Authority (NIA): Process NonCitizen ID cards for expatriate team members.

B. Government Liaison

Establish and maintain professional relationships with:

  • Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA)

  • Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI)

  • Ministry of Finance (MOF)

  • Ghana Revenue Authority (Customs Division)

  • Relevant embassies for visa and travel documentation

C. Sales Support & Trade Fair Participation

  • Coordinate the company s participation in trade fairs and exhibitions.

  • Work with MOFA GIPC AGI AfCFTA media houses and other stakeholders to enhance brand visibility.

D. Container Clearing

  • Collaborate with clearing agents to ensure prompt customs clearance and delivery of goods to farms mills or warehouses.

E. Advertising & Promotions

  • Work with advertising agencies to plan and execute promotional campaigns.

  • Secure billboard placements and oversee brand communication efforts.

F. Logistics & Transport Coordination

  • Arrange transportation for: Farm inputs (e.g. fertilizers machinery parts)
    • Finished goods distribution (e.g. rice deliveries to markets or warehouses)

    • Internal and regional logistics needs

G. Procurement Management

  • Collect and assess quotations from vendors to ensure quality and cost efficiency.

  • Procure materials for various departments:

    • Farm: Inputs tools machinery parts

    • Mill: Spare parts packaging materials

    • Main Office: Office supplies vehicle parts and household items

H. Operational Efficiency & Systems

  • Maintain a database for:

    • Compliance timelines (e.g. licenses permits)

    • Vendor and transporter contacts and rates

  • Implement a reminder system to flag expiring documents at least two months in advance.

  • Track procurement and department requests to ensure timely completion.

  • Carry out other administrative and operational tasks as assigned by management.



Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Business Administration Operations Management Agriculture or a related field (Master s degree is an advantage)

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in operations logistics compliance or a related role preferably within agribusiness or manufacturing

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks in Ghana

  • Excellent coordination organizational and multitasking skills

  • Proven ability to manage logistics procurement and crossfunctional teams

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook) and database/operational tracking tools

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fastpaced environment

  • High level of integrity accountability and attention to detail

  • Strong problemsolving skills with a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement

  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

  • Strategic thinking with the ability to plan execute and follow through on operational initiatives
