Security Operations Center (SOC) Officer NON PERMANENT
(Program Specialist 2
SHIFTBASED 24/7 OPERATION ONSITE

NOTE:
This is a nonpermanent position with the expected duration of 6 months. The hiring authority reserves the right to offer the position at any time after the required posting period and during the recruitment process. The SOC is a 24/7 operation so all SOC Officers will be assigned to a shift to cover these operations. The incumbent may work nights weekends and holidays. Shift assignments may rotate. The incumbent may be required to support emergency operations during a critical incident in stressful and fast paced work environment. Additionally this position is required to work onsite.

About the Opportunity:
As a SOC Officer you will be at the forefront of campus security operations utilizing advanced technologies such as Genetec CCTV systems and building automation tools to monitor for safety concerns. Your role will involve responding to and dispatching emergency and nonemergency calls coordinating with law enforcement and emergency services and maintaining clear and accurate shift reports and incident logs. You will also conduct forensic video reviews provide surveillance support for campus events (which may include nights and weekends) and assist in managing threat levels and initiating lockdowns when necessary. This position requires strong attention to detail the ability to maintain confidentiality and a proactive approach to safety and security.

In addition to the above requirements a candidate must also possess one 1 of the following experience and education options:

OPTION 1
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Five 5 years of experience performing work (reflected on your resume) where you engaged frequently with customers managed and resolved conflict through collaboration and teamwork prepared reports or logs and required strong attention to details.NOTE: This experience must include at least one 1 year of the following:
    • Communications/dispatching experience in the law enforcement emergency operations or security sector.
    • Experience in an operations center that included communications and video.
    • Experience in a position that required dedicated operation of a video surveillance system which included downloading digital files for use in investigations planning response or another operational task.

OPTION 2
  • Associate degree in law enforcement homeland security or related field.
  • Three 3 years of experience performing work (reflected on your resume) where you engaged frequently with customers managed and resolved conflict through collaboration and teamwork prepared reports or logs and required strong attention to details.NOTE: This experience must include at least one 1 year of the following:
    • Communications/dispatching experience in the law enforcement emergency operations or security sector.
    • Experience in an operations center that included communications and video.
    • Experience in a position that required dedicated operation of a video surveillance system which included downloading digital files for use in investigations planning response or another operational task.

OPTION 3
  • Bachelors degree in Emergency Management Criminal Justice Information Technology Communications Business or related field.
  • One 1 year of experience(reflected on your resume)in at least one 1 of the following:
    • Communications/dispatching experience in the law enforcement emergency operations or security sector.
    • Experience in an operations center that included communications and video.
    • Experience in a position that required dedicated operation of a video surveillance system which included downloading digital files for use in investigations planning response or another operational task.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior military law enforcement security and/or loss prevention experience.
  • Strong customer service background with the ability to maintain composure in highstress situations.
  • Experience providing customer service to diverse clients
  • Ability to constructively work with others to address and/or resolve problems.
  • Ability to stay calm and work through emergency situations in a fastpaced stressful environment.
  • Experience working in a communication emergency operations center and/or dispatch center.
  • Certification through a state entity as a PSAP/911 communications officer or education through the Association of Public Safety Communications Officers (APCO International) or the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED).
