Temporary/ Seasonal position
$400 monthly car allowance in addition to hourly rate
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for custodial services in all city buildings including City Hall Police Library Port Port Maintenance Public Works Public Works Operations and Airport Terminal.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR ACTIVITIES
- Clean and sanitize restrooms refill paper and soap dispensers.
- Sweep vacuum mop scrub wax shampoo and spot clean carpeting and floors as required by schedule.
- Clean light fixtures and blinds.
- Dust all public areas.
- Empty trash from receptacles and remove to dumpsters.
- Responsible for maintaining cleaning equipment and notifying supervisor of necessary repairs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
At least two years experience with janitorial work. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be at least 19 years of age and applicant is subject to background investigation check. Ability to communicate effectively. Valid Drivers license required. Confidentially absolutely necessary.
DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES/AUTHORITY
Independent judgment required to schedule janitorial tasks and to complete tasks in a timely manner. Required to handle routine tasks with minimal supervision. Potential liability to city is minor.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY
None.
EXTERNAL VISIBILITY/CONTACT
Infrequent contact with the public government officials or attendance at public meetings. Infrequent contact with key city and service personnel.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Employee will be required to have their own vehicle to travel between buildings. Shift work required. Work is typically performed in city buildings. Low frequency of exposure to hazardous working situations infrequent exposure to adverse weather conditions. Employee is exposed to dust dirt grease and irritating chemicals. Work may require the use of protective devices such as masks goggles or gloves. Work is performed with employee standing walking bending crouching or stooping. Employee must frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds.
