Description
NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center is seeking two Laboratory Assistants to join the team. These positions will release ordered test requests obtain specimens perform waived testing and process specimens for transfer to reference lab.

Location and hours:
These positions are located at the NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center at 2220 Plymouth Avenue North Minneapolis MN 55411. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. with the possibility of shifts on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. and a Saturday shift once a month between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m.New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefitearning employees is inperson in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

These positions are internally classified as a Laboratory Assistant.

In these positions you will:- Perform specimen collection and properly identify label process and distribute specimens.
- Register guests and customers and input test data into computer system.
- Utilize laboratory information systems and electronic medical records including Cerner and Epic.
- Accept orders schedule testing report results and communicate other information.
- Respond appropriately to internal and external customer needs. This includes explaining process and procedures to guests customers and their families.
- Comply with safety regulations and work rules.
- Maintain work area and supplies and train new employees and students.
- One of the following:
- Completion of an approved phlebotomy certification course.
- Completion of 10 quarter credits or more of biology or chemistry college courses.
- Six months or more of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Medical Assistant certification.
- Experience:
- Working in a clinical laboratory performing phlebotomy and/or as a medical assistant.
- Using laboratory information systems and electronic medical records including Cerner and Epic.
- Performing laboratory assistant activities including specimen collection and processing and front desk services and scheduling patients.
- Working with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to:
- Make independent judgements promote teamwork communicate clearly with others and provide customer services.
- Work effectively with an increasingly diverse clientele.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory procedure terminology and correct specimen collections and processing.
