Sr Investment Accountant

Responsibilities:

• Review monthly investment accounting system to custodian position reconciliations and proactively research resolve and document variances
• Review and research daily suspense/OPR activity versus remittance detail provided by the investment manager and coordinate the matching and clearing of this activity in the investment accounting system
• Prepare monthly US GAAP and Statutory trial balance reconciliations
• Prepare quarterly 10K footnotes
• Prepare quarterly and annual statutory schedules including Schedules A B BA D DB and E and related footnotes and general interrogatories
• Perform internal controls as designed maintaining appropriate documentation
• Assist with internal and external auditor testing procedures and documentation requests
• Assist with the review and maintenance of investment accounting system data including transactions pricing ratings/NAIC designations categorization of securities for reporting purposes SMF data LTV and DSCR data for mortgage loans etc.
• Support the investment accounting leaders on various projects and initiatives

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting
• 35 years insurance industry experience preferable but banking and other financial services industry experience will be considered
• Working knowledge of investments and related US GAAP and Statutory accounting practices across various asset classes including bonds equity securities limited partnerships loans and derivatives
• Working knowledge of Clearwater Analytics highly desirable
• Experience with Oracle general ledger
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong problemsolving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Ability to balance competing priorities in a fastpaced environment
• A selfstarter and a highly motivated individual who demonstrates the ability to exercise sound judgment and work effectively within and across teams
