As a Design Engineer on the Visual & Design Systems team youll be an individual contributor focused on bringing Robloxs visual language to life through scalable systems highfidelity prototypes and custom tooling. Our team is responsible for defining and evolving the visual foundation of the product ensuring consistency clarity and craft across all surfacesfrom mobile and desktop to console and VR. You will help build internal tools like Figma plugins and design utilities that empower designers and engineers to work faster and more have experience at the intersection of design and engineering with a good understanding of design systems prototyping and platformspecific implementation. Your work will help ensure our design tools systems and prototypes not only inspirebut scale.
You will report to the Head of Visual & Design Systems.
You will:
- Build internal tools and plugins (e.g. in Figma or custom web apps) that enhance our design and development workflows.
- Create highfidelity crossplatform prototypes that bring new product experiences to life across mobile desktop console and VR.
- Collaborate with product designers engineers and researchers to explore and validate design directions through code.
- Contribute to the evolution of our design systemensuring it is scalable performant and easy to use for both design and engineering teams.
- Serve as a technical partner to our brand and product design teams helping translate visual language into working components.
- Prototype and test new interaction models motion systems and UI patterns to elevate quality and consistency across the platform.
You have:
- 3 years of experience in frontend or designfocused software development with a portfolio showcasing UI prototyping and tooling work.
- Familiarity with modern design tools and APIs including Figma and its plugin architecture.
- Experience using JavaScript/TypeScript HTML/CSS modern frameworks like React or similar tools to validate and refine design concepts.
- Familiarity with design tokens and related tooling and workflows.
- Experience building or contributing to design systems and component libraries for multiplatform products (web mobile or beyond).
- Ability to translate design intent into highquality performant code and prototypes with attention to interaction animation and detail.
- (Bonus Point) Experience with Roblox development and Lua.
- (Bonus Point) Experience working across platforms like VR or console or familiarity with gameengineadjacent workflows.
