Job Summary

Are you a communityminded leader with a passion for recreation and making a difference The City of Bellevues Parks & Community Services Department is looking for an experienced professional to manage Crossroads Community Centera vibrant welcoming space where people of all ages and backgrounds come together. As a Community Services Supervisor you will lead the daytoday operations of the Crossroads Community Center guiding a dedicated team while fostering a welcoming dynamic environment for all ages and backgrounds. This includes planning and evaluating culturally responsive programs supervising staff managing facility logistics and maintaining strong partnerships with local organizations schools and residents. Youll bring a creative approach to programming and ensure quality service delivery that reflects the diverse and evolving needs of the Crossroads community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides positive overall leadership and strategy for staff and programs at Crossroads Community Center
  • Contributes to citywide and departmentwide initiatives projects and programs.
  • Develops plans promotes implements and reviews a wide range of community programs.
  • Develops policies and procedures associated with program development and implementation.
  • Recruits trains and supervises staff participants instructors and contractors involved in programs.
  • Development of program and/or facility budgets and tracks revenue and expenditures.
  • Develops pricing structure for contractor salaries and class fees.
  • Develops public relations marketing strategies presentation and promotional materials as well as distribution timelines.
  • Develops work plans timelines goals outcomes and appropriate evaluation measures.
  • Serves as a program and facility information resource to city staff elected officials and local and regional citizens.
  • Maintain the facilitys operations ensuring a safe clean and welcoming space for all.

Supervision Received and Exercised:

  • Works under the general supervision of the Parks & Community Services Manager.
  • Exercises supervision over program coordinators administrative support staff partially benefited staff and volunteers as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Competencies

  • Considerable knowledge of community center operations including public sector practices facility management and service delivery models.
  • Considerable knowledge of budget development and management.
  • Considerable knowledge of recreation program planning and development including cultural responsiveness youth and adult engagement and intergenerational programming.
  • Considerable knowledge of staff supervision including coaching performance management goal setting and fostering a collaborative and inclusive work culture.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload delegate responsibilities effectively and meet competing deadlines; including the ability to develop timelines assign tasks and track progress toward goals and deliverables.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution and emergency management with the ability to deescalate situations and respond calmly and appropriately to safety concerns or emergent issues.
  • Ability to make sound decisions especially in highpressure sensitive or fast paced situations.
  • Abilities in effective communication and interpersonal skills including the capability to give and receive constructive feedback lead with empathy and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Ability and awareness to navigate organizational dynamics political climates and community relationships with professionalism and discretion.
  • Technological proficiency including functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and apply other software systems related to scheduling budgeting communications and program registration.
  • Skill in public speaking presentation and negotiation skills with a customer service mindset and a focus on community satisfaction.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population demonstrating cultural humility equitycentered practices and the ability to interpret and apply city policies in complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to use discretion and professionalism when dealing with sensitive staff participant or communityrelated concerns.

Education Experience and Other Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited fouryear college or university with a degree in recreation management the social sciences business or related field(s).
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible related experience in recreation management and program planning and/or human/social servicesas well as supervisory experience.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education experience and training that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
  • First Aid/CPR certification or the ability to acquire once hired.

Supplemental Information

First round of inperson interviews will be held Friday May 30 in Bellevue WA. Virtual/Remote interview will not be available for this recruitment.

  • Work involves walking talking hearing using hands to handle feel or operate objects tools or controls and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee may be required to push pull lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet to noisy depending on programs and events in the facility.
  • Must be able and willing to work on day evening and weekend shifts as scheduled.
  • This is not a hybrid position and all work happens onsite. This position will also be required to work on the 4th of July on a rotating basis.
