Novo Building Products is an industryleading manufacturer and distributor of stair parts mouldings doors and specialty millwork along with a variety of board products. Based in Zeeland Michigan Novo Building Products operates Ornamental Decorative Millwork L.J. Smith Stair Systems and Novo Direct.

We are looking for a Warehouse Manager to oversee the efficient and effective operations of the warehouse facility. This role requires strong leadership skills excellent organizational abilities and a deep understanding of warehouse management principles. The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for managing a team of warehouse staff including order pullers stockers loaders banders and auditors while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Compensation range for this position is $79000 $95000 depending on experience.
What will you do in this role
- Oversees the activities of all warehouse employees on assigned shift.
- Manages warehouse personnel performance and ensures timely and accurate performance reviews recommending the appropriate pay adjustments as warranted.
- Evaluates performance of department employees.
- Recommends and initiates disciplinary actions.
- Monitors and approves or denies employees hours and paid time off requests based on needs of business.
- Trains new team members on job safety and company policies and procedures delegating training tasks to Supervisor as needed.
- Partners with Human Resources on employmentrelated issues and brings to a resolution.
- Oversees and manages the distribution of work assignments of assigned shift and able to assist as needed.
- Motivates and encourages team to ensure set productivity targets are met.
- Identifies and makes suggestions to improve safety productivity and accuracy.
- Assists team with questions issues or problems that may arise monitoring for overall safety of the department.
- Makes certain that employees are loading and stocking products in a safe and effective manner.
- Communicates any discrepancies and product or safety issues with Operations Manager.
- Confirms team is correctly and effectively scanning all products pulled for the order using a Radio Frequency Scanner and certifies all units are organized leveled and tightly built for transport and in designated area once order fulfilled.
- Directs and documents the routine inspection of the tuggers jigs and forklifts at the beginning of the shift and reports any equipment malfunctions or damages to Operations Manager.
- Trains and develops team to successfully pass all Novo tugger training and operates a tugger following all safety requirements established within Novo.
- Oversees the use of proper PPE and company approved tools while remaining aware of possible hazards and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What are we looking for in a Warehouse Manager
- Seven or more years of warehouse management experience.
- Experience in wood products and/or home building supply operations.
- Advanced knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft Word Excel Access and Outlook.
- Must be resourceful decisive and have good attention to detail.
- Basic math skills analytical skills sensibility decisiveness flexibility and resourcefulness.
- Capability to communicate efficiently with all levels of employees management customers and vendors both verbally and in written form.
- Capacity to multitask with speed and accuracy while prioritizing tasks and ability to maintain excellent organizational skills to work effectively and efficiently on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Established ability to manage others with strong conflict resolution skills and willingness to work collaboratively as a team to lead inspire motivate coach and successfully supervise team.
- Effectively performs all essential functions including physical requirements.
- Use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and company approved tools while remaining aware of hazards and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license.
- Ability to move awkward product lengths and weights.
- Flexibility in scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelors degree in business management supply chain management or combination of education and work experience.
- Prior experience in distribution or manufacturing environment and traffic management.
- Knowledge of product inventory and profiles as well as the warehouse layout and operations.
Travel
- Travel is primarily local during the business day although overnight travel may be required.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and lift. Must be able to withstand exposure to seasonal weather elements and wood dust.
