Established in 1995 Vancity Investment Management (VCIM) was one of the first wealth management firms in Canada to focus on investments that deliver competitive returns while making a positive impact on the world. The role:
VCIM is seeking a fulltime permanent Associate Portfolio Manager SMA to join our integrated investment management team. Working collaboratively with the VCIM Investment Committee and reporting to the Director VCIM CIS you will be responsible for the daytoday management of equity mandates in accordance with VCIMs Responsible Investment approach. The APM will collaborate with Investment Counselling Investment Management and Trading & Operations teams and take a leadership role in building and maintaining the Investment Counselling mandates in accordance with VCIMs responsible investment management approach and supervising Associate Advising Representatives (AARs)
A typical day would involve:
- Conducting fundamental research across equity sectors to contribute well formulated investment recommendations to optimize portfolio performance and manage risk.
- Maintaining a key role in the portfolio construction of VCIM mandates in accordance with investment policy guidelines and VCIM investment strategy objectives.
- Adhering to a disciplined and integrated investment decision making process that seamlessly incorporates bottom up fundamental analysis with ESG analysis.
- Actively participating in business development marketing activities and presentations supporting growth of the firm.
- Build manage and monitor portfolios leading with SRI discretionary solutions based on the established investment policy statement and constraints to meet member investment objectives.
- Conduct fundamental research across equity sectors to contribute wellformulated investment recommendations to optimize portfolio performance and manage risk.
- Coordinate and direct traderelated activities within established parameters set by the investment team to increase efficiency and minimize risk.
- Maintain a key role in the portfolio construction of VCIM mandates in accordance with investment policy guidelines and VCIM investment strategy objectives.
- Supervise Associate Advising Representatives (AARs).
- Assist the sales team in new client acquisition to increase member penetration.
- Actively participate in business development marketing activities and presentations supporting the growth of the firm.
You are:
- Analytical proficient in breaking down complex information and identifying key points for consideration.
- Passionate about investing andenjoy working in a dynamic learning environment.
You have:
- Five to ten years of related investment management experience ideally in a teamoriented structure of an investment management firm.
- Indepth knowledge of environmental social and governance factors.
- A demonstrated aptitude to apply a growth oriented reasonably priced style with a longerterm investment focus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a desire to work in a team environment dedicated to responsible investing.
- Demonstrative ability to research develop and effectively communicate a detailed investment thesis.
- Qualified for registration as an Advising Representative (Portfolio Manager) with applicable provincial securities commission.
- A CFA charterholder.
- Passionate about investing and working in an environment of constant learning.

In this role you will report into Director VCIM CIS.

The base salary for the role is$110000 plus bonus. The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.
