Canadian Parents for French (CPF) is a nationwide researchinformed volunteer organization that furthers bilingualism by promoting opportunities to learn and use French for all those who call Canada home. The Executive Director guides:
Organizational strategy policy and program development and delivery.
Advocacy media communications and BC and Yukon government relations.
Outreach and liaison with community volunteers and partner organizations.
Leadership of human financial and other resources.
The Executive Director must have demonstrated experience in:
Knowledge of Board governance best practices and experience working with or reporting to a governance Board of Directors to oversee the implementation of organizational strategic plans.
Management analysis and evaluation of programs and strategies.
Relationshipbuilding among a variety of stakeholders and partners including governments.
Creation and writing of project and grant funding proposal applications.
Active human resource management leading a cohesive and innovative team.
Financial management and experience in financial oversight including budget preparation forecasting monitoring evaluating and reporting with a budget of approximately $1 million.
Public speaking preparing and delivering briefs and publishing general interest articles.
Problem solving conflict resolution and engaging team members in a fastpaced dynamic environment.
Key responsibilities
Acts as a role model demonstrating the ethics and goals of the organization.
Leads Branch initiatives and develops relationships with existing and potential funders.
Envisions and implements a longterm financial strategy risk management and marketing and communication plans for organizational sustainability and growth.
Develops relationships/partnerships to participate as part of the Francophone and French Second Language communities to achieve organizational objectives.
Provides strategic daytoday leadership and direction to staff and contractors responsible for service delivery programming fundraising and effective operations and responds to emergent strategic priorities as needed.
Manages an annual budget aligns work plans to prioritize initiatives and anticipates changes.
Establishes and maintains systems to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and quality of programs and services with clear performance metrics.
Conducts annual staff performance assessments addresses succession planning and recommends relevant professional development for staff and Board.
Participates on network advisory committees ensuring a consistent professional brand and image for the Branch within the national organization.
Supports volunteers including Board members to actively and constructively participate in events to improve French Second Language opportunities in the community.
Serves as a key spokesperson for CPF in English and French in partnership with Board members and represents the organization before government the media and at partner/stakeholder meetings and events.
Stays abreast of legal political and social issues as they pertain to French Second Language learning linguistic duality and official languages in BC and Yukon and across Canada.
Qualifications
Mandatory:
Bilingual (French and English) with the ability to participate in French and English meetings and respond orally and in writing in both languages. The ideal candidate will have a level of French proficiency equivalent to CEFR B2 with supporting documentation (i.e. CEFR certificate postsecondary transcripts etc.. CPF is committed to supporting the successful candidate in attaining this level if at the time of hiring this level is not attained.
A minimum of 3 years recent relevant executivelevel management or leadership experience in the notforprofit sector including working with a Board of Directors.
Good to have:
Degree diploma certificate or designation in association management or willingness to complete such certification.
Sound knowledge of French Second Language programs including early and late French immersion intensive French and core French.

37.5 hour work week with occasional evening and weekend work time off in lieu.
Some travel required.
$80000 $90000 dependent on experience plus competitive benefits.
