The Waipapa Taumata Rau University of Auckland Tertiary Foundation Programme (TFC) is a oneyear university bridging programme which teaches underprepared young adults so they may undertake degree studies in the following year. One of the subjects taught is Mathematics which is spread over five different courses depending on the mathematics experiences that a student enters the TFC programme with. The teaching position involves teaching bridging mathematics and statistics where the successful candidate will teach two courses over the five months that include Semester Two 2025.
Firstly the successful candidate will teach one stream of the course TFC Maths 90F at the City Campus. TFC Maths 90F covers number and its operations proportional reasoning measurement and introductory algebra to students who have not been successful in their earlier learning of mathematics. TFC Maths 90F will be offered at these times in the City Campus:
The second course is TFC Statistics 92F offered in a students second semester of their bridging year to prepare them for entry into the Stage One Statistics 10X suite of courses at the University. TFC Statistics 92F will be offered at these times at Te Tai Tonga (Manukau) Campus:
The role will also include marking and meeting with students onetoone. You will be part of a larger team teaching these courses and the tests and other assessments will be written by the Course Coordinators. The ideal candidate is someone who has teaching experience in a New Zealand secondary school and who can relate well to young adult learners and their variable prior learning experiences. The position is 0.5 FTE (half time) which includes traveling time between the two campuses.
The role is a 5month fixed term parttime role 20 hours per week)
The remuneration is between $ 100696 $ 121897 (prorated) per annum dependent on skills and experience.
